So beach cottage ladies, can you believe we are over half way through February?  Wow!  Well I can’t…

I thought I would have a look at my Goals List I wrote a month ago and see how things were looking (here if you missed it or are interested).  January was to experiment with a few new recipes, which I sort of did, but I have to say there weren’t that many winners, though what I did do was make a huge list of things to try out so that is progress (the muffins from yesterday were a hit, try them honestly amazing).   The other thing was go to bed earlier, hmmm that happened once.  Fail.

February was all about getting out and about in the country…so far this has meant one day walking alone in the fields inland from the beaches and one day out country coastal with mr bc where we drove about an hour and a half up the coast (combined with looking at property) and ended up on this beach on a very very hot day (scorching) and walked a long way in bare feet on the seashore…

I’d really like to improve on  making these days out happen more frequently, when the kiddos were littlies we did this a lot, very often, but then sport and all sorts of commitments happened and we didn’t do it as much…if I could turn back the clock or talk to myself back then I would say to ditch some of the sporting pursuits our kiddos did and keep one day of the weekend totally free of any commitments and go out more for days…it makes me really sad that we didn’t do this….hey ho you can’t ever know what you are doing right and we thought our kids playing sport and being part of the community was really important…now I look back I think not so much.

Yeah so anyway, in light of February’s going to the country more goals, we have just booked a trip inland to an old gold mining town to see a bit more of the real Australia.  It’s surrounded by beautiful countryside and right now it’s blazing hot there inland…but boasts clear skies, fresh air, stunning gums, mountains and lots of wildlife…just what we want…and we can take Barls which we love doing…

Rightio, I’m off to make a biryani curry…

See you anon.

p.s. all images are via my iPhone – I did take my big girl’s camera on this trip…as ever and keeps happening, it stayed in the car…the best camera is the one in your pocket xo

“If you observe a really happy man you will find him building a boat, writing a symphony, educating his son, growing double dahlias in his garden or looking for dinosaur eggs in the Gobi desert. He will not be searching for happiness as if it were a collar button that has rolled under the radiator. He will not be striving for it as a goal in itself. He will have become aware that he is happy in the course of living life twenty-four crowded hours of the day.” -W. Beran Wolfe

Gorgeous beach phone photos Sarah. I think the friendships and lessons your kids have from being in a sporting community will be priceless too.
Do what you love, love what you do.
Walking on the beach is so cleansing and calming for me. I’d love to live closer to the ocean, one day maybe, Neen ;)

  3. Oh I SO loved seeing this tonight. Had a slightly shizzy day and you’ve just clarified for me that it’s always the simple things in life that make us smile. Thanks gorgeous xx

Beautiful pics, as always! I’m sure your kids will be in NO doubt that you have always done what you thought was best for the family, and there comes a day when they are able to appreciate that in itself, despite any failings YOU think you may have had. I just loved that quote also – that epitomises what a happy & fulfilling life is all about – and I think you have that in bucketloads!!
