…there I was thinking I was all, you know, Heritage and then boom the joys of pure white hit me square between the eyes…a few phone snaps of the WIP progress in the Summer Room…

…in here it needed anything really, it couldn’t have looked much more in need of some love…after a bit of thought I went for whitewash (not grey) and hoped it would pull the light in, brighten up the floor and give an inside outside feel (rather than trying to ‘decorate’ it as a room if you see what I mean)…I was thinking of an English conservatory feel (oh how I loved our conservatory in our English house!) whereby the whole room is glass and you are sitting inside but it feels like you are outside apart from the glass…of course in England you are surrounded by walls and a lovely roof of glass to protect you from the weather and to enhance the warmth of the sun…..errrrm I can’t think of many things in Sydney worse than sitting in a room made of glass…think one’s head could well combust…

…but anyway that was the look I was vaguely thinking in my head – all white, outside light, casual, simple, not much fuss…and this is how the first coat of white painting turned out…I am going to get a large sisal rug for the floor after I have worked out how to make the tiles good again…will ask Dr. Google his advice on giving new life to these old vintage tiles…

I cannot lie that although the woodwork on the windows is awaiting its third coat of paint and the walls more paint, I couldn’t resist going in there to foof today surrounded in a cloud of white…

I’ll show you how that turned out tomorrow.

Adios my friends.

I’m intrigued by that light fitting. Do you like it or loath it?
As I’ve said before I love those tessellated tiles.

at first I loathed it, but I am now liking it…however it’s way too small for this room – I am looking for an old enamel fitting in here, not much luck yet x

It’s all looking lovely and bright and sunny…makes me think of South Africa…lovely and hot in summer…aren’t you concerned about having your computer in the direct sunlight since it’s so warm in Aussie?

    • Sarah says:

It’s strangely cool in the Summer Room – I keep checking the computer and it’s not getting warm… xx

Hi, did the house come with those federation tiles or did you DIY? I like them a lot but they don’t seem typical for the northern beaches

    • Sarah says:

the house came with the tiles – they really need some help, but it’s a job I haven’t gotten around to yet :)
