Love Your Christmas Home DIY Coffee Scrub
Tue 2nd, Dec, 2014
Good morning from Sydney Beach Cottage ladies of the web, how are we all, well grab yourself a drink and come and have a laugh at me, I am covering myself in coffee grounds, making a DIY Coffee Body Exfoliating Scrub instead of running around the mall like a headless Christmas chicken with a list.
Now, yesterday I was actually at the mall, I didn’t have a list or a goal even, but I was meeting my lovely friend for coffee, we started talking about Christmas and the Christmass-y panic (oh how happy was I to hear I am not the only one to get this!), she said that every year she gets butterflies in her stomach at it all, getting everything done, doing it all perfectly (oh me too), it was sooooo nice that someone else feels the same, we chatted at how ridiculous this is and why do we women sign ourselves up for it every December? Well this year we aren’t. There will be no Perfect Christmas Panic. It ain’t happening Santa.
Anyway yes just tuck that one under your armpit and think about it and come and make some DIY Coffee Body Scrub with me, much more like my kinda fun and you can double it up as a home-made gift for someone if you like (see this is a multi-tasking blog, beauty and Christmas crafting in one).
This is the part of Love Your Christmas Home that’s about you and making some little treaty things to give away if one of your wishes is to get away from the consumer driven Christmas crapola (well it’s also about me I want to make something every year but am a dreadful crafter so I do things in mason jars and beauty recipes) or of course, this is for you to make to just pop in your bathroom to treat yourself to at this super crazy time of year.
Now if you have been a reader for a while, you will know I LOVE making beauty recipes and faffing with lotions and potions, it all started years and years ago back in England with my feet and an Origin salt scrub which changed my life, long story short is after dropping many dollars on Origins feet I made my own DIY version of that sugar scrub and it was just as good if not better (you can find that DIY Sugar Scrub recipe here from the early days of my blog).
So ages ago I saw coffee ground scrubs popping up everywhere and my daughter saw them too on instagram (and for a mahusive price for a few coffee grounds and oil wrapped in a trendy brown envelope), coffee scrubs are all over the internet with lots of amazing claims that the caffeine in said scrub will change your body and what you may or may not have done to it…hey guess what, these would not only scrub you they will also help with your cellulite, take off 20 years of life on your wobbly derriere bits and while doing that sculpt your upper arms. Errrrrm no, well I have been making this for years and no this coffee scrub did not do that for me, it hasn’t left me with upper arms in the more svelte spectrum but it is something I love making up and leaves me with lovely smooth skin…I recommend that you make it if you like glowy skin in your little black dress this Christmas and as ever it’s super easy and you will more than likely already have the ingredients in your cupboard.
I do also know that this will leave you feeling good, I love the smell and coffee and coconut oil are rich in anti-oxidants…plus this is great value, no high-end beauty counter prices to battle here.
Easy DIY Coffee Exfoliating Scrub
(amounts given are for a small amount so you can try it, I make it in batches of about 4 times this)
2 heaped tbsp coconut oil
2 heaped tbsp rock salt
2 heaped tbsp coffee grounds
1 tbsp brown sugar
1. mix all in a container with a tight fitting lid – you might want to add more coffee/sugar to get the consistency as you like it.
I hope you like this idea for a little Christmas craftiness, guess who will be smooth and glowing on the beaches of Sydney this evening. Moi.
See you soon.
p.s. if you are looking for a wonderful face treat, try this exfoliating facial scrub with things in your cupboard, it’s so good, you’re face will love you
