a beach cottage coastal vintage bike

Helloo, I had forgotten how much I love my two old vintage style bikes…there is something about riding a bike to me…sometimes it’s even better to not actually ride it though, rather lean it and foof with it.

We are winding up…actually that might be down… to the July Winter holidays here….in a couple of weeks they will be upon us, we’ve lots planned…can’t wait.

I don’t know if it’s just me but I seem to always want to completely detox and Dettol the house, change every bed, wash every sofa cover, clean every window, de-crappify my rammed wardrobe and basically sweep this whole cottage within an inch of its life, before the holidays.  Of course that is totally and utterly unrealistic and for a few reasons.  Firstly if I did somehow manage to do all that over the course of the next week or so, I would probably kill myself, although I am a woman who Dettols and gardens at midnight when stressed so you never know and secondly the five herberts who live in this house with me would take approximately 2.34 minutes to trash it all anyway.

Oh hang on maybe I could seek out one of those teams of one-off cleaners…I could lead them around this old place…I imagine they come in Ghostbusters style in a fog of steam cleaners…haha…have any of you had those teams to blast your house with Dettol?  I know people do end of lease cleans, how about pre-holidays cottage blasts?  Yes, yes, yes, the more I think about it the more I might look into that.

And I’m working on a few other things here…these things are the opposite of winding down and cleaning houses but I have had company lol…if you instagram with me you’ll know that I have had a little white and putty striped assistant today…he’s not very productive….right now he’s moved from the sofa to the chair in the window baking in the Winter sunshine…there is a soft and gentle snoring…funny how when my hubby snores I do not have pleasant thoughts…when it’s Barls on the other hand well it just sounds sweet and cosy and sort of homely.

See you next time…

p.s. the Beach Cottage Vintage Coastal Wares are flying off to new homes and there’s another little treasure going up this evening (I’ll post on my instagram and Facebook – you can just email me or leave me a comment on the post if you fancy taking in a lost and lonesome Beach Cottage vintage find in need of some love and foofing…you could indeed give them a little bit of Dettol if you were being really kind).  I have had lots of messages about these goodies, umm basically they are all one off treasures from my hunting all over the beaches and once it’s gone, it’s really gone…though there is, ahem, a rather large and bursting at the seams stash of supplies under the house so we could be here a while ;) xo

    Hi Sarah,

Wow this term has gone really fast. I will be getting the big teenage boys to help with the big chores that need doing, like the outside windows and clearing gutters.Deep down they enjoy doing these chores, but will never let on. Today (friday) is my major cleaning day, stripping beds, washing towels and a general clean. It makes me feel more relaxed for the weekend know that these chores are done.

lovely bike and I’d love to steal a day to lysol the whole house before our summer kicks in! but love the visual of the cleaning team coming in ghostbusters style.

  6. The bike is pure perfection! Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Sarah ! The problem with Dettol, unfortunatly, is that it is not good at all for cats ! So I’ve purchased a product called Verlina, here in France, that is safe for pets.
