Helloo, if you love a nice, easy, no-bake, afternoon tea, treat recipe you’ll love this Peanut Butter Slice Recipe – quick, easy, no fuss, indeed no bake.  Gotta love that.

This recipe is all you need for a little afternoon soiree, when you need to take a plate and want it to be home ‘baked’ even though it’s not, or when you have people coming over and want to look like you made an effort to give them something nice.

What I do if I am taking this somewhere, is put this together and pop it into the fridge and then get some greaseproof paper or brown paper ready to wrap it in and then tie it with string and take it along….easy.

This started off life a few years ago, when someone on my Facebook page introduced me to Reeses cups.  Oh my gosh I had never tried them before, in fact I don’t think I had even heard of them and so the next Friday (the day our little family get treats on the way home from school) I bought them, and there started a love affair with these little foil wrapped beauties.

And I looked around for a few recipes with that whole peanut butter chocolate combo going on, and tried a few, but really nothing cut the mustard.   Then I found a recipe for a slice with peanut butter and chocolate and had a go, it was nice, but me oh my so so so sweet – you know when something is so sweet it actually goes beyond tasty with a cup of tea to more euuuuhhh?

easy peanut butter slice with chocolate recipe no bake abeachcottage.comSo the next time I made it I cut out a lot of the sugar, most of the chocolate and all of the syrup and this is the result…it’s really really nice and best thing is you can treat your kiddos, or indeed yourself, be a bit naughty but still know that yes it may be wearing a lot of sugar, but you made it yourself, it’s not rammed full of E-additives and you know what went in it.

a beach cottage peanut butter slice recipeHere I used Woolworths macro Organic Peanut Butter, as I have said before on this little corner of the web, I like to make organic switches where I can, it’s not quite realistic for us to completely go organic as a family of 5 but where I can I do.  This is lovely peanut butter, made with 100% organic peanuts and you can really taste that it’s organic if you know what I mean, plus it’s good but still great value, love that.

Easy No-Bake Peanut Butter Slice Recipe

1 cup smooth peanut butter (Woolworths macro Organic)

2 cups chocolate chips/melts

1/2 cup icing sugar

1 pack plain biscuits (I used shortcake but any sweet plain biscuits will do)

100g butter

teaspoon oil

1. melt peanut butter and butter together in a saucepan on low & when melted take off heat

2. crush the biscuits (I use a ziploc & bash with rolling pin) and add biscuits and sugar to the pan & combine

3. line a tray with baking paper and spray with oil, add the biscuit mixture and press in with a spoon

4. melt the chocolate very slowly in a pan with the oil

5. pour chocolate onto the biscuit base

6. refrigerate for 20 to 30 minutes

That’s it from me, happy Friday!

Sarah, there was a discussion on the ABC show ‘checkout’ last night on Organic food, and its NOT organic unless its been certified organic, now is that Macro range certified? if not then its not authentically organic.

I am a bit surprised by your comment, It is definitely certified organic. It says so on the Woolworth’s site.
