shells, flowers, laptop deaths and a coastal cloche
Thu 8th, May, 2014
Well good morning from Sydney, a little bit of coastal vintage style this morning…I must say I haven’t had the best of weeks – nothing major just stressy stuff and more hospital appointments, very draining and emotional and then an hour stuck in traffic (gosh that reminded me of England) and yesterday my laptop decided to blow up. That was nice. To be honest I have been waiting for it to finally give up on me – my laptop was the last thing to switch over to Apple – when I bought it I made the wrong decision not to go Apple and have regretted it ever since, so I had been waiting for it to die but it refused to and has been hanging on for dear life for years (I had a lawnmower like that too, bought it on the cheap for like $50, it was like a hairdryer on wheels but did the job for years). Anyway first world problems people, so last night I was not the happiest of bunnies, if you follow me on Instagram you’ll know my troubles.
However I’m much happier today, funny the difference a day makes and there are very good people in the world, I had to email someone for help about something, I didn’t expect a reply let alone a solution, but I sure got one and it was just what I needed – there are nice people in the world still and that one little action made me feel 100% better, funny how that happens. It’s my turn now in karma to help someone out.
Anyhoo, before my traffic, appointments and laptop deaths, last week I stopped by a homey boutique that is normally not in my day to day travels, in there was a beautifully set table, a little bit OTT, I mean I’m not sure who has a plate setting with 8 dishes on it, including one upside down dish, but in the centre were lots of glass cloches with flowers underneath…I liked the idea and thought it would work nicely for me on the new (to me) table in the dining room.
So yesterday, after the laptop blow up and the traffic, I blasted the BBC on the radio, cracked out the Dettol, inhaled deeply, poured a drink and set about some Domestic Goddess Therapy.
It’s what I do best.
