A French Cafe Chair & a Crate for Coastal Vintage Style

Good afternoon Beach Cottage lovelies, I am back from lunchtime yoga (more on the yoga journey soon, all I can say is oh my something was calling me to yoga and how right it was) to say hello with a few pics from my bedroom and some vintage furniture art.

Someone emailed me recently to say that they had inherited an old Bentwood chair which was showing a lot of signs of age and an old Australian fruit crate…the lovely Kylie said they were in her grandmother’s garage and had been for years (hello Kylie!)…she had rescued them but once home had no idea how to fit them in with her house…now I don’t often have the time to answer coastal style questions in my rammed inbox but Kylie said she couldn’t think of anything to do with them and was going to put these out for council clean-up.  Oh my.

So I messaged her back and said I’d just use them as kinda ‘furniture art’, she messaged me back asking how she would explain furniture art to her minimalist loving husband?

I messaged her back saying I don’t  specialize in marriage guidance, not quite got the hang of it yet but I have become quite the expert in moving old furniture around in lieu of art on the walls…

I said just prop it all somewhere with some very nice light, add a bit of colour and maybe a stripe, throw some flowers in and it’s as simple as that…every time you go past you will smile and your marriage will like that.

She told me she’d try it but I haven’t heard from her since.

I’m wondering how Kylie is.  I emailed her and have not heard a dicky bird.

So without any evidence of Kylie’s Bentwood Australian crate rescuing I thought I’d do my own.

Ah! Beautiful Sarah that crate is. I wish I could find something similar too but this is India and I won’t.

    In despair and depression,
    yours truly.

    Hi Sarah,

Love the flowers and the arrangement that you have them in, so relaxed and casual. would love to now the name of the flowers? I’m taken over by gardening books at the moment as I enjoy planning our new outside space.

Those white flowers are cute as.

Sarah, your flower arranging inspired me last weekend. I had to arrange a truck load of flowers in glass jars and vintage vases for my granddaughter’s naming ceremony extravaganza. Thanks to your blog I didn’t agonise, I just did it, in record time. When I sat back they looked fabulous. Thanks.

    Hi Sarah,

Love the flowers with the crate, and have scoured flower catalogs trying to find them to grow. I’d be so grateful, if you could be so kind to let me know what they are, and if you know where to purchase them in seed or bulb form?

    Oh, and love your blog!!

    Thank you so much,
    Sheri
