Beach Cottage White Slip Covered Sofa Coastal Beachy Decor
G’day friends :-) are you sitting down?
So this would be a white slip-covered sofa for the family room…came into my life recently and not by way of a shop ;)
the treasure hunting gods are showering me with their goodness…
Right now there is a white leather sofa in the shed hiding from my husband and feeling very lonely.
I did not kiss it on its way out.
The womenfolk are pretty happy in Beach Cottage land ;)
Sarah xx
As usual this is very IKEA like – bland and cheep
#1 Anonymous – Are you a monkey? Cheep, cheep, cheep????
Or are you simply uneducated and you meant cheap? In any case you have no balls b/c you entered w/o your name AND your negative comments are not appreciated. Go away monkey.
And what, pray tell, is wrong with an IKEA look? The IKEA look is really a softened version of the Danish and Swedish look of the 60s and 70s. I have lived in Swedish homes, they do look like IKEA homes even if the owners don’t use IKEA. it is blond wood, clean lines, LOTS of flowers especially in spring and summer, an soft curtains. The light in Scandanavia is amazing and it can bleach out those colours we might associate with English country decorating, the reds and hunter greens. The light actually has a yellowish tinge which highlights clear reds, greens and guess what white. Come the winter, the furniture is layered with darker colours to complement the warmth needed inside, but with the lightness of the wood and summer look never far away. So, roll out the IKEA look, and if you don’t want to actually buy IKEA, fair enough, there are plenty of really really expensive scandanavian stores that will sell you something robust that will go with you Krosno, Ooresfos, royal Copenhagen look.
By the way, anonymous troll, trolls are also Scandanavian, from Norway.
Hey Sarah.
Firstly ignore the first comment done by an ignoramus.
Did you paint the suitcase white? I may have some that are similar under my house and the white one that you have looks great.
Yes I did paint it white a LONG time ago, it needs a refresh to be honest :)
Cheers Sarah
I think it looks great like it is.

Oh dear supertroll who can’t spell…. crawl off back to whichever hole you came out of. Sarah, we love you and your totally non-Ikea like loveliness. Not bland, but delightfully pale and interesting. The treasure hunting gods have been very kind. Next time you see them, do you think you could ask them to kindly bless me c with a few bits of gorgeousness? Love your work and much love and continued healing thoughts to you all. Sharon. xx
Pretty!
Gorgeous Sarah and glad too see , some happiness come your way. When home is clean and pretty it makes me happy and I seem to be able to cope better with life and the curve balls it throws us. Hope your new couch brings you much happiness and family time xoxo

May I simply just say what a comfort to discover somebody that really understands what they’re discussing on the net.
You definitely understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important.
A lot more people need to check this out and understand this side of the story.
I can’t believe you are not more popular given that you most certainly possess
the gift.
That white treasure is making me very green.
The treasure hunting gods are so good to you.
You deserve it! :)
Love it. Totally inspired.
Aw, this was a very nice post. Taking the time and actual effort to create
a great article… but what can I say… I put things off
a lot and don’t manage to get anything done.

Is this sofa from Pottery Barn?
As usual this is just stunning.
Why do people make unkind comments? I understand that “taste” is as personnal thing but if you don’t like something DON’T write it!!
Ill mannered oik & hiding under the cloak of anonymity???!!!!
looks perfect in your space. I love the way you have styled that room!!
It’s so cute with the little pleats on the sides of the skirt. I love it.
I’m glad it makes you smile when you see it.
SO happy that you found your dream sofa and were able to decommission the white leather one that just wasn’t ”you”! We all have our version of that hated piece that just doesn’t fit.
Good healing karma is coming your way :-)!
Gorgeous and simple as usual. Love all the white with the green plants and of course all your accessories. I still think you should do a book. You definitely have a talent for decorating.
Sarah,
love your couch, looks so comfy and classic! The whole room is so cozy and fresh, just the place to curl up and relax! I don’t really get what pleasure people get out of being mean, what’s the point! Keep doing what you do, we love it!
Rebecca
Now to just find a second one so that everyone in the family has a seat! I need 2 big lounges and a recliner and bean bags to fit my mob and their mates!
I have the same looking sofa (and two chairs & ottoman)! Is your new sofa Mitchell Gold? Love it!!!
I love that sofa…so much in fact that we have three of them and some matching chairs throughout our house. We beat them up, toss the covers in the wash and watch the house sparkle when we put them back on. NEVER want regular upholstery again.
Congrats on another great find. Can’t wait to see more.
Love all the look! I have recently bought a slip covered white sofa second hand. I really like the look of them. I have two small children so the covers need regular nappy sanning to remove vegemite prints, lol! But I too am never going back to regular upholstery.
morning lovely sarah, you know I’d love it! … looks as fresh as a daisy! I need one of those slip covers! lol have a good day … Namaste m:)X
Oh man I’ve having so much jealous over your home right now. My house has my brother-in-law in the loungeroom and it’s a pigsty. I’m doing a MASSIVE clean this weekend. I’m talking behind the fridge madness. And I’m going to put flowers in vases and stuff.
fly me down with vases and flowers ;)
I love it, the sofa, coffee table, accessories. I’m thinking of getting a similar style sofa. With my budget, it will come from Ikea. I like that they have slip covers as does my present sofa but between cats and an active grandchild, it needs replacing and new slip covers are not available hence the need for a switch. Sides Bemz makes cool slip covers for Ikea sofas too. Pinned it.
I see you have discovered my Pinterest stuff as you have pinned a few. You were my introduction to the service and I am now happily addicted to it. Thanks much.
Ooh very nice!
I like that sofa a lot- looks good for lounging on:) one of my firm criteria for lounge suitability- lounges that can’t be “lounged” on have no place in my house
Hi Sarah – good on you Theresa, I couldn’t agree more with you, they are fabulous couches, I have two of them and right now I have tossed one of the covers in the washing machine and they come up amazing – such a practical thing with two grandchildren but, hey, who gives a rats. I would love to send Ignoramus Anonymous a photo of mine, they live in a beautiful white “beachy” house on the water on the Gold Coast and look amazing. Leather can come out again later. Well done, Theresa and I too love the suitcase. Sandy
It looks like mine from pottery barn. No thrift gods looking out for me, thats for sure, but i love it just the same.
Regarding troll…jealousy rears it’s ugly head.
That first comment…not very nice! It’s really shocking when people think kindness is not important. I LOVE your new sofa, you lucky girl! What a great find. The whole room is soothing and beautiful. Have a great day! Jenn
What divine photos such a lovely light. The room looks beautiful and you deserve good luck in finding the pieces you dream of!x
Ouch !i,m genuinely shocked..Sara don’t you listen …I love your posts and very excited to see that you have found THE sofa :) and you know what?i for one would be delighted if it was from ikea cause then we could all have the lovely sunshine that you and your blog bring to the old country (getting sentimental as had a glass of vino ) its lovely to see what it looks like ….delighted for you :) p.s .where can I get one ?when life throws you things that you are not expecting ,I,like you take enormous pleasure from looking and enjoying happy surroundings except that I do that brought your blog xxxxxlots of love and ignore old fartface xxxxxxxxx
Oops “through” your blog :)

I like the way you wish things into your life. Clever girl.
alison
haha yes I try to :)
Pretty! This was an extremely wonderful post.
Thanks for supplying these details.
[…] Remodelista compared some higher and lower end lights, but even the “steals” out there are no match for the $20 price tag on the Craigslist find! I love the idea of hanging it over the living area like this. […]
Great to see you back. I love your sofa and have one very similar. It is so comfy, we have had it for 15 years now and just needed a new cover, which we now have. Comfort is everything. Love it.
I completely understand why the womanfolk are happy in the cottage, very nice. No space for the white leather anymore, now that this beauty has taken over. I think she is a keeper. I have a white suitcase you now, inspired by you and this particular one years ago. I love how yours has worn though, don’t do the refresh.
xoxo
Please tell me where you got the lovely crocheted looking rug from?
It’s great to see you beginning the long and fragile healing process – I wish you continuing strength; and I know that yoga will help you, as it has helped me and countless others…
thank you :)
oohhh.. love this look.. we’re planning a ‘lake’ cottage of our own and love the straw mat … the lounge def my style… linen off white is such a gorgeous colour and the light fitting is fab… thank you for such yummy ideas……
I just adore that light!!! Beautiful.
i loved each and every little thing in these pictures, really great work
What’s up, all is going perfectly here and ofcourse every one is
sharing facts, that’s genuinely good, keep up writing.
Looks lovely. Very fresh and beachy.
Thank you so much for sharing with us, Sarah! I certainly have no time to spend on saying mean things online without showing my name. Sad existence some must have. Anyway, thanks for bringing a bit of sunshine to all of us and having the courage to carry on. I happen to love your beautiful home. It is real and calming and lovely. Quite the opposite of bland!
thanks :-)))
