Mon 16th, Dec, 2013
Hellooo, just a quickie from me and a few easy Christmas recipes.
OK, so no doubt you are getting busy, I know I am, in Australia it’s not only Christmas and all that comes with the silly season, it’s also the end of school year, hey ho the first year I experienced an end of year and Christmas at the same time I took my hat off to Australian mums! I’ve got used to it now a bit more, lots and lots of things to attend and this year, for me, is no different, lots of events on top of Christmas events plus sport is busy for us at the moment too.
With lots going on though I still love to have people over for Christmas things and I love making special holiday recipes at this time of year, there is something very comforting about a lovely ham, some mulled wine, a trifle…and a turkey in the oven for friends heading over for the evening and a Christmas dinner…
If I’m doing a Christmas dinner though (there’s a lot of preparation, thought and shopping for a traditional English Christmas dinner) I take short-cuts with the desserts and salads and here are three of my favourite short-cut Christmas recipes, actually they are more like directions…
This one is using my fave Christmas cake! I love Panetonne, especially here in this part of Sydney where are lucky enough to have lots of the very special Italian food, I find it hard to resist buying a different Panetonne every day purely on the delight of its packaging qualities…..this little Christmas Desert Cake Recipe uses Panettone and is very very simple, go here if you want an easy but wow factor dessert to serve…
This is the goddess of easy chocolate desserts, new to abeachcottage blog this year, but I’ve been making it for years – it gets gasps when you bring it out, I can vouch for that – find the full recipe here
This lovely trifle recipe below looks fabulous in a simple glass trifle bowl, and it’s made with store-bought ingredients – you don’t have to do too much fussing but it looks like you have! You can find it here.
I hope you try one of them to ease the load this Christmas!
