Good Morning from the Whitsundays!

I have been sitting here at the screen wondering what to write to go with these photos

Awesome? Amazing? Blue? Beautiful? Unreal? Unbelievable? Stunning?

There don’t seem to be any words that describe how beautiful it is in the Whitsundays…

Mother Nature is pretty special right?

I am up at the Whitsunday’s for a blogging conference and yesterday we got to take a cruise to see a bit more of this beautiful part of Australia….

I must say I was in my element…

I have been up to this part of Australia before, but to be honest, I had really forgotten just quite how wonderful it is…

Empty beaches

and white white sand

The water is clear and warm…

And along with all this natural beauty, this morning I walked on glass…and that’s a whole other blog post…have you been to the Whitsundays?  Have you walked on glass?

I travelled to the Whitsundays thanks to Tourism Queensland

OMG! I love the Whitsundays – I met my husband there….he had an awesome job taking people on cruise boats out to the islands every day. Love must conquer all because he left the silica sands and crystal blue to be with me in the country. (But not before we had some fantastic times making the most of this perfect wonderland). Thanks for share these beautiful photos – brings back some amazing memories for me xo P.S I have not stepped on glass – sooooo not jealous :(

Those photos are AMAZING Sarah. Please share your tips for getting such awesome beach photos? So fresh so clear. Did you process them at all are they straight from the camera?

I am off to Thailand later in the year and would be thrilled to take some island shots remotely as clear and crisp as yours. Any pointers?

Glad you are having a great time. Looks like a magic part of the country.

      Hi Peta

I use windows live photo gallery to process my photos – I have never looked into Photoshop, I just haven’t got the time to fuss about too much!

I usually up the contrast, saturation and highlights in my pics but as I have learnt more about settings I have had to do less to the pictures – I must say that these pics were very very easy to take – the colours, light and scenery didn’t need much…

I would say move over to manual or AV (on Canon) and fiddle around with the settings and see how you go (youtube is great for photography videos – that’s mostly how I have learnt) xx

Gorgeous photos Sarah. Yes I have been to the Whitsundays! Back the days of my youth whilst still a student I sailed around them with a group of girls (and a handsome captain) – oh the memories! The sand was so fine and white it squeaked when you walked on it and the sea so clear we almost got vertigo when looking over the side of the boat.

I’m off to dig the photos out from the loft to show my kids when they get home from school.
    Happy weekend! Kate x

    • sarah says:

thanks kate, yes the squeaky sand and the water!!! for a girl from the UK it took my breath away again! x

  7. MDN says:

Pristine…and glorious, as are your pics. Esp. that of the sunset.

Hmmm. Must admit that Whitsundays has been totally off of my radar…never ever heard of it. By the way, is there something about swimming there…is it OK to or are there hidden considerations (corals, riptides, sealife, etc.), which brought about one of the above comments?

Just a consideration…for your “remote” viewers who are unfamiliar w/ your country…to perhaps include a map or a link to a show where the Australian places are that you’re visiting? (I’m off to the intnernet to find out. Curiosity’s piqued!)

Thanks for the luscious eye candy!

PS – What’s the population of the area? (Your pics kead me to think that there is hardly anyone there.) Are temps similar to those in Sydney? (Don’t know if this is closer to Antartica, more tropical, etc.)

Gosh, this place is beautiful! It looks to be the place to relax and just take in the scenery and to contemplate life!

    • sarah says:

it’s much warmer than Sydney and a much smaller population but a lot of holiday makers as it is very very beautiful and gateway to a wonderful area and the Great Barrier Reef…

I didn’t think about including a map before, thanks for the feedback xx
