Well good morning!  How the devil are you?

All good here, I have been enjoying the sunshine, the parties and the food…ahem to the few kilos around one’s waistline.

So it’s that time of the year…the end of the year, when we all decide that next year we will conquer the world.  For that reason I avoid too much with New Year’s Resolutions preferring to keep my expectations low and not set myself up for failure.

This time last year I said I wanted to be kinder to myself and enjoy living in the Lucky Country…I certainly fulfilled the latter, life here is good, but the first one, well all I can say is I have tried which I guess is a good thing…

This year I have one main goal and that is to get out and travel more.  I have been thinking about this a whole lot the last few months…I love exploring things, it doesn’t have to be big fancy trips, but with three kiddos and a busy life, it always seems to get left on the back- burner…so I have finally come to the realisation, a bit like making Christmas ‘happen’, that if I don’t get out there and make it happen it won’t come to be, just as many things in life… so my goal this coming year is to get myself booked onto a few plane rides…but not just big trips, I want to see much more of Sydney and explore more of what’s on my doorstep…I started it already and spent a couple of days after Christmas exploring with Mr BC…amazing what you find that’s just down the road that you never knew about once you start to look…

This year also sees A Beach Cottage Mark II!  We are looking into acquiring another ramble down old cottage to get our teeth stuck into and work some white paint and vintage furniture magic on!

…we have been dabbling with the idea of this for years…this year we are quitting the talk and doing the walk – we’ve been researching areas to look for a while now and already started viewing properties to renovate and wowzas there are some shockers out there…think old, falling down and shabby and waiting for some Beach Cottage love…both of us are so up for this, it’s time and now with Mr BC not having to play the corporate game and spend long days stuck in an office in the city, it gives us a lot more scope…watch this space, I am sure the ride will be errrrm an interesting one!

Anyhoo, I am off to do a spot of gardening and get ready for the fireworks tonight, what resolutions do you have for 2013?

p.s. pics are from Beach Cottage on Instagram (you can find me on there as ‘abeachcottage’, love to see you over there, it’s fun!)

Hi Sarah, we just got back yesterday from a 2 week road trip. There’s so much to see in our own backyard. On one of the last days we did a guided tour of Government House in Sydney’s Botanical Gardens…check it out if you haven’t already.
Have a great night tonight and a Happy New Year !!
    xx Marnie

Yes Sarah, generally we all need tobe kinder to ourselves. My head is full of great goals but it’s true you can set yourself up for disappointment and failure if you set unrealistic goals. Success breeds success.

You are such an inspiration. Can’t wait for your 2013 instalments with BC2.

Have a lovely NYE celebration. Behave yourself.

    Love alison

happy New Year Sarah. My eldest girl is flying towards you as we speak.I can’t believe she,s gone. She,s flying into Brisbane and then hopes to go to Sidney. She got a year long visa .When she was packing I kept saying just let me check the blog as to what’s happening there. She was very amused as I talk about you as a friend of sorts :) she has brought out a Royal Albert expresso set as a pressie to relatives who are not English so hope they like.I,m hoping she won’t like Oz as much as you do.xxxHere,s to adventures…Keep it coming ……

I know she will have a wonderful time here in the Lucky Country…I haven’t met anyone yet who doesn’t fall in love with it lolXXX

So excited to hear your news! Wishing you all the best on your adventure.
Very true words spoken about unless you get out there and make it happen… it wont happen. Trying to use a bit of that wisdom in my own life at the moment, dreams are great to have, but it actually is a whole different thing to get your big girl panties on and get out there and get stuff done.
Ive decided to get my blog on (again) and try a blog about the journey to getting schtuff done! I am taking a leaf out of the beach cottage Saturday club by taking some time to myself as well as getting out there and achieving big and small things.
Can’t wait to see some of the properties that didnt make the short list!
Love to the BC Crew x
