G’day lovelies!

Well now it has come to my attention, according to the Reader Survey, that what you want to see on here is more…it appears that not only do you girls find me amusing, you actually have not had enough of my rambling, very interesting…

So today I thought I would do just that…show you some more of this old cottage we have grown to love…a bit of day to day stuff from Instagram and from my phone, the bits and bobs through the days in this old cottage on the beaches…

I wrote a while ago how if you wanted to start a blog but did not have the time, inclination or quite frankly brain power to stick with it then Micro-blogging from your pocket on Instagram was the way to go…I didn’t expect to take to it as much as I have… I am finding that I am absolutely loving it…quick little snaps, no fussing, no big girl’s camera and settings…just whip out the phone, aim, fire, filter and go…

So with the beauty of that little app here are some quick snaps from this old cottage…a few interiors, a few pretties and the odd polka dot and flower or two

..our tiny little kitchen, prepping for having guests over before I, ahem, consumed rather one jug too many of Pimms…

a poorly person tucked up in my bedroom with a downloaded movie on the iPad…gotta love technology hey ladies

I like to sit here with the sunshine streaming in…a far cry from the old place we moved into a few years ago, dark dingy and with the most hideous patio doors the world ever did see!

yesseeee pops of raspberry here and there in this old place and Miss Beach Cottage, resident Beach Cottage Baker is currently KitchenAiding her way through the Primrose Bakery book

Sunday afternoon, in the smallest kitchen in the Southern Hemisphere…a double roast chicken stuffed with lemon, garlic and herbs and a happy smelling cottage…

love being out on the deck…an outside area was on our hit list when looking for an old cottage…after years of holidays eating al fresco in the South of France we wanted that ability here too…this deck was bright orange and brown with a mouldy dark bottle green roof when we moved it…gave it the BC treatment and now this has become one of our main living areas…

love hooks here and there…you know Spring has arrived when the baskets and plimsolls come back out …and a lot more pleasing on the eye than teenage boys’ stinky old soccer boots left at the door…

what can I say, I am a mug person…one must have at one’s disposal a large array of mugs to drink one’s tea…love me some colour and some pattern in a mug…ahem a few more on the way to this old cottage flying over the oceans, do not tell Mr BC…the hacksaw is one of my best BC Parenting Tools

sigh to some Beach Cottage fairy lights in the evenings…

I hope you enjoyed a few more casual day-to-day snapshots of this old cottage…

I am off to foof the Summer House, it’s slowly getting to what I envisioned…oh and a decision has been made I think on the kitchen dresser, it’s going Beach Cottage white…

with love from the beaches

oh and p.s. gotta love long lay ins on lucky no school-run days…here’s to a pj day!

It sounds like you’ve put a lot of blood, sweat, tears and love into your home and it’s totally worth it. What a lovely, welcoming haven you’ve created! I’m reading this on Wednesday at dinner time at home in NY and I realized it’s Thursday morning there, so have a great day!

what a lovely tour, it all looks so serene. I’m glad it’s white for the dresser.Have a great day in the summer house, I’m about to jump in the car for my usual 100minute drive up to Noosa and plan on doing some painting of an old vintage bamboo table i scored….inspired by your recent roadside couture…thanks!
    Have a great day.
    Bec x

lol I love your PJs!!!! They are so cute…. I love today’s post! I love everything you have done to your lovely home… Truly Fantastic! Lol…Not surprised about your kitchen dresser going white…. I think it will look good either way…Funny I had this image in my head of having lovely coloured furniture around this little house of ours once having our walls painted white but I am finding that I love the white on white look so much that I am changing my mind on that point and opting instead of keeping it predominantly white with pops of colours on the doors or draws (if not keeping them all white)…So it is thank you to you for my new found love of white painted furniture with a bit of distressing here and there…Though I still like that weathered silvery grey colour and dark wood tones too…Lets not forget peeling, flaking paint (dream worthy!!!)

P.S: I noticed you have wooden bench tops… Do they hold up well? Hubby and I love the look of it but I am afraid it will be a pain to maintain. I am tempted to go grey bench tops (white cupboards – not changing that in a million years!) where we do most of our prep work and wooden bench tops where things would just be placed while waiting to be chopped/watched etc…Hubby thinks it would look too mismatched (but I love it for that reason!) So far the consensus is stick to the same bench top (family and friends) but the bench tops would be separated by the sink so they don’t even meet avoiding that weird factor…Whoops got to go toddler rummaging through the paperwork cupboard..

Sarah hi , great post . I always enjoy the tours . Inspires me to continue and finish my renos .
    Re the tours …
The last time I showed a girlfriend , sole mum of 4 , very limited income your in the beginning before and after tours , she saved up and managed to purchase paint and bits to go and has created beautiful bedroom for 1 of the 4 .
My friend had never opened a can of paint nor painted anything before this project . She now has painted a room full of furniture and walls and ceiling . 3 more rooms to go .
My friend doesn’t own a pc yet nor a phone that’s internet contected . She rings me for your updates and yes I read them to her sometimes and visits me for coffee and to view your blog .
Just thought to let u know even those without the net love what your doing and sharing . Cheers .

      What a lovely story, Candice.

    • sarah says:

wow Candice, I have to say I am in tears here…so very inspiring…obviously I have not been a mum to 4 on my own but I have made a huge move (with other stuff that no-one on this blog knows about that is stressful) and moved into a place that was grotty at best so I have so been there…plus starting a business in the middle of the financial crisis was an ahem interesting time in our lives …it is amazing what you can do with some paint and some elbow grease!

thank YOU very much for inspiring me to carry on with this blog…I get a lot of these kinda messages via email too…there are nice people in the world!

please tell your friend I said hello and to keep plugging away when you next speak to her..

  9. Annie M says:

Well Sarah apart from inspiring me to paint white, foof, improve my photography skills and tablescape around my house, thanks to your beautiful pictures now it seems you are stretching me even further by encouraging me to micro blog on instagram!! Since I don’t own a smartphone perhaps that should be on my wish list for the next birthday ( along with an aqua kitchen aid of course ). Yourself and a few other inspiring bogs I regularly haunt keep me wondering if maybe I have it in me to write a blog( then of course that old friend self doubt whispers in my ear ). But micro-blogging…well who knows!! Love the photos and please tell Miss BC that we have the Primrose Bakery book and when visiting the UK last year it was on our must do list so we tramped through Londontown to track it down and thoroughly enjoyed our tea and cupcakes. As in your house my daughters are the bakers and me the taster!! Another lovely post Sarah…no wonder we all want more.

  10. Felicity says:

Thanks for the great pics. As always you have brightened my day. I would love to cook in your kitchen.

You still haven’t got over your old sliding doors have you? LOL LOL

Damn, you kept your quilt! Been waiting for it in the mail after it was replaced in another post photo.

  12. Karen says:

Great pix, your cottage is really lovely and you and Mr BC should give yourselves a wee pat on the back from time to time! I bet if you did a cottage for holiday rentals you’d do very well x

  13. Tanya says:

Your home is beautiful, no doubt. But what I really feel when I see these pictures is warm. Every nook and corner has that “made by mrs.BC” feel- a signature touch. Its lovely. And never have I returned from this blog without an idea or two. You are a rocker lady.

Do you have a tutorial to that chalkboard thingy? The one with the roller on sides? If yes, would you please route me?

  16. You make my day Sarah! Love all the pics! Thanks so much for sharing your life with us!

  17. Jo says:

I took the survey. I don’t remember if I commented on this, and I don’t know what anyone else said, but I, for one, love your what I wore features. I love your clothes and I love seeing the outfits you put together. I just wish you bought the stuff on line or in the states so I could get some of it!!!

  18. Jen says:

I love your photos! Are those straight from your iPhone or are you color correcting them in photoshop?

    Lovely. Lovely. Lovely

  19. I love it! Love your little pops of color here and there against the fresh white. Sighing. Thank you for sharing.
