G’day Beach Cottage ladies .  Well the month rolls to an end…wasn’t it only yesterday that it was Christmas?  Where did that time go then?  So come on in and see what I’ve been up to in March..

This has been my third month taking part in Chantelle of FatMumSlim’s fame photo Challenge…. MARCHPHOTOADAY…here’s what I have been up to….

And so April rolls up and we have a whole new load of prompts to get our creative juices going…or to just snap away…I must say, Instagram is a great way to improve your photography, it has mine anyway, but even better, really it’s just a great and instant way to connect with people…and amazing if you go through the hashtag and see what other people all over the world are up to…that’s my fave bit of this…mostly I do this in the bath in the evening…yep it’s addictive so be warned….

I am loving Instagram and this challenge, though I did miss a few this month…but that’s they beauty of it, you can jump in at any time

So for April we have another one…here’s a bit more from Chantelle, FatMumSlim on this month’s challenge…

Each month I reveal a list of prompts for people who like to take photos. Each number corresponds with the date of the month, and you take a photo to match the prompt. There are no hard and fast rules, you can stick closely to the prompt or just use it as inspiration and have your imagination run wild.

Some people have played every month so far, some will be starting for the first time in April, some have done one month and skipped others. There are no rules – so jump in and out whenever you like.

Please note: I have changed the hashtag this month. So many other people have jumped on the bandwagon and are making their own lists with the same hashtag we use, so I’ll be changing it each month. For April the hashtag will be #photoadayApril, and that way we’ll be able to see the photos of people doing the same list as us.

To give an example on how to use the prompts, for the first one ‘your reflection’ you could take a photo of yourself in the mirror or take a more abstract picture with a reflection of you in the toaster, or your hand in the car side mirror.

Once you’ve taken a photo for the day you can upload it to Facebook {and share with your friends}, upload to Twitter {and use the hashtag #photoadayApril}, share on Instagram {again use the hashtag #photoadayApril}, share on your blog, or Tumblr or even Pinterest. Or share on all platforms. There is a great community sharing photos, so it’s great to share socially so you can be part of the community.

So that’s it, easy…come and join in with us, it’s fun…or just follow along…mine go out on my Beach Cottage  Facebook page and Twitter too if you want to follow there….

It’s quite interesting to look through at the end of the month what you have been up to on Instagram…its seems my whole life involves taking photos of the beach, interspersed with lots of food shots, vintage things and my feet…

So there you go…see you for the next month of fun…

Oh and I am still in Melbourne, catch up with me on Instagram or I’ll be posting pics for the Beach Cottage Crew to my sidebar up there on the right…

Bye for now Beach Cottage lovelies

 Sarah

p.s. I am abeachcottage on Instagram or if you don’t have an iPhone you can follow along with me here

and this is my favourite shot for a long time…kinda amazing how technology changes things isn’t it…that tiny little square thing in my pocket allowing me to capture this…I snapped this sitting on the top of the ferry, as the sun went down, wind in my hair, sea air in my lungs on the way to an event in the city…it was a decision…styled hair or the windswept look by travelling outside, I dumped the hair…I always try to travel in by ferry if I can, it’s one of the things I love about where we live…traveling from the beaches on a short ferry ride to a very beautiful city…amazing…

…and this view gets me every single time, thank you Sydney & Australia…I heart you xo

Enjoy your visit to Melbourne, the place where I grew up :)

I haven’t participated in the photo a day, but I’ve been looking for some blog inspiration, so maybe I will try that next month.

    Hi Sarah,
Thank you for the lovely Harbour Bridge shot. Thank you for all of the Beach walk ones too Sarah. I really love the way you are so appreciative of your new life in Australia. I wish more people would adopt your take on life. Much better for the soul. My son, his partner and brand new grandson coming home to NZ next week for husband’s 60th. Having seen the beaches and lifestyle they have on offer in Sydney through visiting your blog Sarah, I don’t hold out much hope of them ever returning to NZ to live though. My son works in cafe looking out at that beautiful view everyday. Can’t see him swapping it for hot kitchen with no external windows anytime soon! Hope your ladder turns out a treat. Lovely to see I’m not the only one who appreciates these things. Can’t wait to see the final result in the Summer House too.
    cheers,
    Karen

I seriously love your photos they are stunning :-) Make mines look even a million times worse I should be ashamed to actually put mine in a public place.

I have one or two months until my phone contract is up and I can then swap providers and hopefully get myself an iphone so I can take part in the challenges.
