  1. Laura says:

I have a pair of sparkle-y wedges that make me feel pretty when I wear them!

  2. April says:

I love a big chunky necklace with a white t-shirt and great jeans. Comfortable, yet still cute.

  3. Pam Keener says:

A dress with heels but not sky high and I feel pretty, as I am always in jeans or shorts.
    Love & Hugs,
    Pam

  4. Pam says:

I like to add a soft flowing scarf or a long swingy necklace to my outfit to make it feel a lil more special. Though losing a few pounds have done more to make me feel and look better than anything else. Thanks for the giveaway and for the chance.

  5. Maryanne says:

Nice jeans, plain tee, great necklace or bangle and gorgeous, gorgeous shoes. Can be flat, can be heels, love them both!

  6. Definitely a bright lipstick! At the moment I’m loving a bright orange from Mac! Simple with a couple of coats of mascara and you are good to go! Too easy!

  7. Ann says:

Scarves are my thang… and apparently they’re timeless so my growing collection is not a waste – or so I keep telling myself. Thanks for the chance to add to it! A x

  8. Judy says:

I love to add some dangle earrings or a scarf to spruce up my outfits.

  9. Judy says:

I love to wear tall heels and a little bling on the necklace and earrings. The rest is just details. :-) In the summer, an easy breezy dress, in the winter, cute jeans and a flattering top and I’m good to go!

    Judy

  10. Winnibriggs says:

A wrap dress, some forties style peep toe heels and a vintage necklace and I feel some of that old time glamour! Love that scarf, keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the giveaway.

  11. Robin says:

A pretty sundress in a tropical color does it for me…especially during these hot summer months here in FL!

  12. Deanne says:

in winter you can’t go past a scarf and some bangles, in summer some beads and pretty sandles

  13. Alima says:

I hope Wednesday means next Wednesday! Otherwise I missed out on this one!
Unfortunately I can count on 1 hand the times I’ve gotten dressed up in the last 2 years since my son was born. But when I do get dressed up I love to add a little bling with jewelry. Fun dangly earrings, a stack of bangles or a playful cocktail ring always helps me feel a little dressed up!

  14. Traci Colquhoun says:

I throw on a bit of lipstick and for someone who rarely wears it, the pop of color immediately dresses any outfit up! I also love me some baubly – large chunky necklaces that seem to do the trick every time.

  15. Kat says:

I love to straighten my hair, put on some makeup and add some braclets and a nice necklace/scarf to dress up my look.
Love your style as always Sara!! :)

  16. Kristin says:

What a fun give away, I’d love to be the lucky one! For me it is all about getting ready. I love a great soak in the tub with a great magazine, then to get dressed and do hair/make-up with a nice glass of wine. Then I feel relaxed and ready for whatever is in store!

  17. Trace says:

I do my hair and make up and throw on a great necklace and I instantly feel dressed up (even if I am still in my trackies ;).

  18. Ev says:

    Hey Sarah

Seriously – you stole my thunder! Ha. A little black dress, bling, heels, a sophisticaed little bag

    AND

Tiffany cologne on my wrists and behind my ears.

    Fingers and toes!

    Thank you.
    xox
    Ev

  19. Heather says:

First let me just say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE that scark! I dont get out much with two toddlers at home but when My husband and I are lucky enough to get out I curl my hair, put on a pair of great fitting jeans, wedges, my favorite Premier earings and a little make-up. Oh just thinking about it makes me smile.

  20. Gayle P says:

I am quite casual so for me it is a triple wrap bracelet and some sparkly sandals with a dress or my cuffed jeans!

  21. Sara R. says:

I add a scraf! It makes everything look more chic!

  22. I always add a big cocktail ring.

  23. Candice says:

I put on my long, dangly, mother of pearl, set in silver earrings ( or something equally long ) .. with whatever black outfit I always wear at night.

For semi-casual, black jeans with high heels and a favorite blouse which is semi-sheer, white with cuffs that hang to the fingers.. very foppish…from Babette, all pleats and crinkles..
and either a long very thin cotton blazer ( black) or a sweater that has tiny bits of jet stitched to the neck and cuffs and hem.

Now it is winter here , so my going out posh outfit is black trousers, black high heeled boots and a black thin silk top with ruffles at the hem with a black shrug with tight sleeves and a very feminine ruffle type lapel ..

I wear a variety of scarves here, my favorites are lace or when it is really at its coldest, I wear a beautiful pashmina that my son brought me from India wrapped around a few times .. it goes with everything, but I usually wear a black coat .

I am looking forward to summer already :)

  24. What are your favourite ways get some ritz on when it’s time to get out of your trackies? Silver sandals
….what do you do for instant chic? pearls of course

….a little black dress, chuck on some bling, totter on killer heels, a cute jacket, lots of sparklies, a gorgeous bag? Black dress…yes…heels -no way unless they are just kitten heels

    And I love scarves.

    xo Jana

  25. adventuresindinner says:

I am crazy for shoes (it’s best if I don’t count them all) and usually get dressed based upon the shoes that I want to wear that day. For dressy, dressy times it’s VERY high heels, lots of eye liner and my favourite necklace-Tiffany, silver pearls (shouldn’t have bought it but I’ve worn it hundreds of times in the past 10 years). I would happily go anywhere then.

Thanks so much for offering the chance for such a gorgeus treat.

  26. meghan says:

Earrings- I love earrings! They make an outfit for me. :-)

  27. teres says:

the ‘trackies’ get put aside once in a blue moon in this house and they are traded for a spritz of ‘clean’ (a perfume here in canada that smells like grapefruit), an easy pair of great jeans, a white oversized linen button down shirt (the more wrinkled the better), fancier flip flops, and my favorite earrings/necklace/bracelet combo handmade by my gf featuring my birthstone and the birthstone of my husband and of my little guy and the other wrist gets a jumble of traditional children’s bracelets that were my son’s when he was newborn (asian tradition) and that i have taken to wearing. oh and if there is time my toes and fingers get painted too. :o) yes, the list is kind of long, but, when i get to do things up, i do ‘em up right! :oD

    congratulations to whoever wins!

  28. jolene says:

Always a scarf, silver bangles and my new leather riding boots & lippy (lippy always works!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

  29. Melissa says:

My new brown leather boots, big chunky bead and fabric necklace that has a bow and lip gloss. Easy!

  30. Melissa says:

oooh and a clip in my hair!

  31. Lark says:

I recently went back to work part-time for my kids’ school district. A scarf is one way I would dress up a casual outfit to make it acceptable for work. Love the Ruche scarf!!! :)

  32. Anonymous says:

I find an old lippy deep in the handbag of horror, whip up an up do that’s somehow different to the everyday one and run to my besty/ neighbour with Lindt salt chocolate ( bribe) to borrow something flowy from her fabulous and generous wardrobe. I feel like I’ve had a make over but it could be the endorphins from the chocolate.

  33. Vicki Toth says:

Hi Sarah! A spa manicure and pedicure always does it for me! Makes me feel “put together” and like I’m ready for anything!

  34. Sue from NZ says:

I like to curl my long hair, do night time makeup in the daytime & add sparkle. I just went to Oz & bought a cool scarf which has baubles & bling on the ends. It is now my new favourite accessory.
    Love your giveaway scarf, Sara.
    Thanks Sue froom NZ

  35. Jen says:

I’d have to say that being a mom of four boys my hair is almost always in a pony tail or bun! So my fix is spending time doing my hair, beautiful shoes and a great pair of earrings :) I adore the way you wear your scarfs! I would love to add that to my get-up, lol! You have effortless style for sure!

  36. Nanna says:

I put on some fab jewelry and a cute jacket!

  37. Melissa says:

I like to throw on some heals, throw my hair up and put in a headband with an off-centered sequined flower. I go from le shab to le chic!

I love your giveaways, and with the type of week I have had – I need this! :)

  38. Cat says:

Mascara! I instantly feel a little more glam and presentable!

  39. Chris says:

I love some long dangly earrings to make me feel all dressed up. Jeans or all dressed up-they make me feel like I am all put together.

  40. Lori H says:

My hair is too short for an up-do, and I don’t wear many heels. But for special occasions I wear a little more makeup and sparkly jewelry. You know how to wear a scarf so well! You have inspired me to try it :)

  41. Caz says:

A splash of red lipstick adds instant chic! and if going for a real knock out look I’ll put on one of my hats.

  42. Kate says:

Ritz – I’ve got to say my chunky crystal bracelet (no less than 5 rows of sparkle) can make any outfit look glamorous.” Now that it’s summer, pairing it with a top that shows lots of shoulder/back (racerback and halters need apply!) will make add some sex appeal to boot.

Instant chick – Heals -> go!

Also need to add: skinny jeans (yes!), blazer with cuffs rolled (yes! And bonus points if the lining has a great print), sling-back wedges (yes! And swoon). Or simply look at anything that the Duchess of Cambridge (the royal formerly known as Kate Middleton) is wearing and do that… immediately!!

Hmm dress up secrets… keep it short and flirty. Time to flaunt those buffed legs and pedicured toes, ladies.

  43. Deb says:

Foundation garments are a vital factor to any glam look I feel. Dress from the inside out and you will feel a million dollars! (Corsets and torture wear aside, a girl must be comfortable to feel sexy and look good;)

  44. Kim says:

Hey sarah being a busy mom for so many yrs I am just getting back into ME so heres what i do

    KimmyLynn2u2@aol.com!!
    thanks Ü

  45. bianca says:

I hate looking perfectly groomed, so for me its just a quick messy top knot, either dash of colour on cheeks or lips and a simple necklace, or earrings if I’m wearing a scarf. Ohhh, and being a milliner a little flower in my messy hair is a must!!

  46. Jen says:

Vintage pearl strands and rhinestone brooches. I have pearls in single & double strands for more casual, and 3, 4 and 5 strands for dressier. I pin smaller vintage rhinestone brooches to a tee, sweater or jacket to add a quick bit of glam, a little uniqueness. My big brooches are for dressier occasions.

  47. Sandra says:

Hi Sarah, I LOVE the Scarf and gorgeous bangle and the pretty flower pin. I’ve seen you in your scarves and always wished I owned one.
For me when I want to feel extra special and have that dressed up feeling, first I have to be sparkling clean from my hair to my toes with a nice body lotion on. And I don’t forget to have proper nails too (both toenails and fingernails, even if they don’t have polish. Plus it also helps if I’m ‘feeling’ really good, otherwise what’s the point? I don’t think it’s so much about what a person wears as to what kind of attitude they have. If we are wearing a great attitude, then you could never look bad no matter what you have on, even if it’s flip flops and a white cotton blouse and cute little skirt. I tend to wear white cotton in the summer and black in the winter usually with some comfy boots. That along with a great attitude always makes me feel dressed up. Plus, I cant forget, it always helps if my hair looks good ;)

  48. Patricia says:

Being a Texas girl, I have to say I put on my pearls when I want to glam it up a bit… Along with a diamond ot two for sparkle!

  49. kathie says:

yes it has to be a scarf and accessories, be it earrings, rings, bracelets,a jacket or vest that changes an outfit a pair of ballet flats or a nice little cardie with bling on it! You don’t have to have a completely new dress or outfit because these things can transform any look into something new!

  50. Carol says:

I brush my hair and put on some make up….at 50+ that’s about the best I can do…but I’d love to have that scarf!!

  51. Peta Jones says:

if I could afford it, it would be a blow dry and a mani/pedi, some bling and a fun party dress and last but not least, HEELS. Well ugg boots or thongs until we go out as my legs just can’t handle the height anymore!

  52. Anonymous says:

In my opinion, there’s nothing to beat having good looking hair. So for me, it would have to be a good blow dry. Add a pretty pair of earings, and a smidge of lippie, and even if I wear wearing an unspectular outfit, I would still feel like a million dollars!

  53. Shirley Schilder says:

ooops, will try that again (as me rather than anonymous!)

In my opinion, there’s nothing to beat having good looking hair. So for me, it would have to be a good blow dry. Add a pretty pair of earings, and a smidge of lippie, and even if I wear wearing an unspectular outfit, I would still feel like a million dollars!

  54. Michele says:

I’m mostly in jeans, tee, and flip flops, but when I need a little something more I replace the tee with a femine ruffle top, add earings and a long necklace, and some flirty shoes.

  55. joyce tx says:

it’s the shoes… def the shoes! If mama’s feet aren’t happy, then no one is happy! I’m past the ‘ gotta wear heels’ stage and into nice lookin’ comfort- privo by clark. :)

  56. Maryellen says:

A little mascara, some lipstick, favorite diamond earrings and anything linen!

  57. Jo says:

Make-up and shoes, specifically liquid eyeliner and heels. Ironically I will add a scarf and or some bling to dress up just about anything…jeans and a tee take on a whole new look when you do this…especially with heels.

  58. Melissa Darr says:

Oh to get of those tracky dacks i would definatly have to do something monumental…. DIY facial, paint nails and the addition sexy heels, skinny jeans, classy sparkly top and nice fitted jacket – and whine to my husband to take me to a nice restaurant now that I have made the HUGE effort of looking nice! Ha

  59. My idea of dressing up for a bling-night is making sure it was a good hair day first and foremost (lol!), pulling on my fav flared jeans (I’m a just a boho-chic at heart), tossing on a pretty top, scooping up load of leather, silver, and silk bracelets for my wrists, big silver hoops for my ears, and then sliding into a pair of gladiator wedge heeled sandals – then I’m ready to rock and roll! :) So that beautiful scarf (and bracelet) would add soooo much to my favorite outfit, Sarah – and of course, I’d think of my favorite Aussie-galfriend every time I tied it around my neck. ♥

Thanks for offering this pretty giveaway!!! :)

    xoxo laurie

  60. Emily says:

I go for silk. I have one or two really beautiful silk tops that I wear with everything. Jeans, shorts, skirts. I love how sexy and sleek I feel in them and they always liven up my day. That and sparkly eyeshadow.

  61. Bonnie says:

I have a strand of pearls that my husband gave me for Christmas last year. They are my favorite “instant glamour.” I feel a bit like Jackie O when I put them on… so elegant. Pearls feel that way to me – they’re instant class & elegance.

  62. Jo says:

Just shared your link on my facebook page…it was about time I shared my fav blog with my friends anyhow ;)

  63. patty says:

I put on my leather, knee high Palmroth booth. OH YES!!! Love those shoes. I got them second hand but I always feel like a million bucks when I put them on

  64. I posted your sweet BC giveaway on my sidebar, Sarah! ♥ Hugs to you!

    xoxo laurie

  67. Julia Bristed says:

Hi Sarah, I really love your blog. Keep up the great work!
For dressing up…..A blazer makes you look smart without trying and shiny hair makes me feel pretty. Also, I usually swap to some darker coloured jeans and make sure I have some colour -jewelery, a scarf or a bright top.
I’m currently trying to turn my house near the beach into a beach cottage – thanks for the inspiration!
    Julia xx

  68. the freckled minx says:

It’s all in the knickers and bra. Something sexy, expensive and it really doesn’t matter what the rest of me is wearing because I feel like a million dollars! There will be a certain confidence and swing of the hips in the walk!!

  69. For instant chic I have to put my hair up in a messy bun, wear some small dangly earrings, soft lippy, perfume and add a necklace or scarf. It doesn’t matter if I’m in jeans or a ‘going out’ dress – if I do these things I feel chic. Kylie

  70. Pam says:

Hmmm…I always feel great when I put on my dark denim jeans, black healed boots and a flattering black top…finished off with a pair of great earrings, maybe a necklace and a funky bracelet! Then some quality time with my hubby for an evening out (these are so far and few between with a 4 yr. old!!) ;D A new scarf would be perfect for the next evening out!!

  71. jeanne says:

Instant chic…it’s all in the attitude…sexy jeans, cute cotton top, sexy heels, a scarf and my silver hoop earrings..but the attitude is what shines on! And makes the outfit!!

  72. Thera says:

I am also a jeans and tee woman, but to dress it up I have a great pair of high heel boots, a blazer and a scarf that are my “go to’s”. Add some lips stick and mascara and I am good to go. Unfortunately, the scarf was given to me years ago my my aunt, and it is very “autum-ish” and rather faded, I could really use a new one :)

  73. kelly says:

definitely the little black dress and some sparkly jewelery – but a las, that does not happen two often with little kiddos so i usually am content with just a night out with clean jeans and a comfy shirty that does not have remenents of the little’s evening supper!

  74. Jen says:

I put on some high heels and a bit of jewelry!

  75. kelly says:

    pinned you on pinterest! :)

  76. Deneen says:

A pedicure a red dress and some fantastic heels!

  77. cath says:

My pair of short dangly crystal earrings and a mimco hair clip. Teams well with jeans for the school run and makes me feel slightly dressed up. I’ve bought two stripey shirts recently thanks to your fashion post, and I love them. Keep the fashion coming!

  78. Sara says:

I great pair of jeans, a well-fitted shirt and a fun pair of heels. : ) It’s important to look great but feel even better. That’s what dressing up is really about.

  79. Lee Mills says:

Hmm lets see these days working locally a few days a week and from home the others I am lucky to EVER get out of jeans so for me it would be popping on a dress or skirt, perhaps more make up than the standard lipgloss and spending more than 5 seconds on my hair…a little pampering sometimes goes a long way…in summer it would be a quick pedi, nothing better than well groomed toes in summer sandels…hey what can I say I am easy to please. Wonderful giveaway by the way, whoever wins is going to be one lucky lady!

  80. marcia says:

Catherine Popesco (http://lavieparisienne.com/) earrings, shimmer face cream and lip gloss. That’s pretty much all I have time for any more. I live in Joe’s Jeans, flip-flops and a cami during the summer. Great give away Sarah, thanks for the chance to win! Marcia in Cali

  81. Lizzie says:

I’m all about the hair. It boosts your confidence and can make anything look glamourous and pretty. And when you feel good about yourself you radiate confidence.

  82. Jacinta says:

It has to be a pair of funky boots! They jazz up the jeans and T uniform and put a spring in your step!
I may have fallen in love with just a few pairs of amazing Anthropologie boots – who can stop at just one pair – when they are sooo different and gorgeous!

  83. Alice says:

It depends on the occasion… At the momment I am looking for a nice black dress that hugs the body but has a little ruffle at the hem with small capsleeves that sit almost off the shoulder. I would team this up with my gorgeous chunky turquoise bead and drop necklace. Then on my right wrist would wear my 3x silver bangles and my left hand just my wedding rings. I would skip the earrings as I want the focus on the dress and the pop of turquoise from the necklace. My dark hair would fall in waves (it’s quite long at the momment, I think it was grade seven when I last had hair this long), I’m enjoying the length… Shoes should be some killer hills but knowing me I would team it up with cute black kittlen hills (if I was taller I would even go ballet flats – love them). I would(well am planning to as soon as I find the dress) wear this killer outfit out for coffee & dinner & icecream at darling habour on a friday or saturday night with my hubby and heck I will even take the kids! I’ll be feeling like a yummy mummy all the way lol!!! I love the look of turquoise teammed up with black! I can’t wait to find the dress!

    • Alice says:

Just to answer the question properly, I usually wear quite simple clothes with little to no pattern then dress it up with a combination of a really nice necklace, belt or pretty earrings a nice jacket (if it’s cold) and nice shoes…and bag too

  84. Kim says:

I always wear makeup and earrings so it would have to be a jacket and some sweet treats on my feet~Cheers Kim

  85. Leslie M says:

Definetely a nice hairdo, accesories and makeup! that’s instant chic!

  86. yvette says:

Hi Sarah, I had to come way down here to write you a quick message…I’ve just grabbed my copy of Junes ‘Romantic Homes’, and there you are. This Aussie town takes it’s time sometimes to get my favs on the newsagency shelf…Lovely photo’s as usual, and even nicer that I recognised your blog name and your cottage white style. An eyecatching crisp clean line, and a touch of colour with flowers…how I love this. I’m in the process of finding my own comfort zone, with a new house and new ‘bright’ beginnings, until then I’ll drool over your lovely photo’s and ideas. Have a lovely weekend, Yvette x

  87. alison says:

Firstly, it all starts with a good hair day. From there anything is possible.

But the following are the icing on the cake: comfortable and beautiful undies and bra, manicure/pedicure, cute yet comfortable shoes and a conversation starting handbag accessorised with an antique rose gold chain and locket that you finally got off layby.

  88. Anonymous says:

Hi Sarah! I like simple…gladiator style flats with monochromatic short hemline outfit, fluff up the hair, dangly earrings or long necklace…or high heels instead of the flats. Anyway, the scarf and bracelet .”.perfect accessories to simple. I love your blog by the way!

  94. Tammy says:

Cat eyeliner, soft flowy sexy hair, lots of mascara, and a wicked thought!

  95. Ruth says:

I think my bag sets the tone! I spend my days carrying beautiful but HUGE bags to keep everything, nappies, toys, snacks, practically everything but the kitchen sink!

So if I am going out, the thing that makes me feel most glam is being able to carry just a gorgeous tiny, clutch.

  96. For instant ritz I put on animal print!

  97. posinoe says:

    Lipstick and perfume …. !

  98. nicole says:

a scarf, a couple of necklaces, and some earrings my latest obsession is scarves and boots.

  99. nicole says:

posted to facebook, my blog and twitter

  100. Barbara says:

My job is so casual that quick mascara is the usual daytime look so full on makeup is the way to go for me. The ‘you look great’ makeup as opposed to the ‘trowel it on’ look, of course. ; )

  101. Nathalie says:

For me it is a nice necklace or scarf and bracelets, high heels and some lipgloss

  102. Tonya says:

A Primark bag and jewellery, always affordable and fashionable.

  103. samantha says:

Well I pile on the mascara to help me look like I might be able to stay awake through the evening, wear something to flatter my waist line, I have a nice fitted jacket that gives me instant shape but with out strangling it because I want to be comfortable as well as chic, and I don’t go far without a scarf draped around my neck, throw on a sparkly ring or two and I’m done.

  104. Bec says:

Earrings, nail polish and a bracelet glam it up for me.

    Great giveaway!

  105. HRH Sarah says:

I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis, so when I pull out the eyeshadow, you know it’s party time! I also adore shoes, and have been known to rock some pretty great peep toes ;)
I guess the other “glamish” thing is NOT putting my hair in a ponytail or bun. It just about kills me because I’m used to having it up, but I’ve yet to find an updo that’s as flattering as just having my hair down.

  106. HRH Sarah says:

Shared on FB- and what’s that about a new couch? How did I miss that???

  107. Lilly says:

High heels, a cute lipgloss and a nice dress!
Thanks a lot for the chance.

  108. Ilene says:

Cute scarf and flats! I keep it simple with a few accessories.

  109. rebecca says:

Convinced by my teenage daughter, I reluctantly bought a pair of dark denim skinnies. They look pretty hot with a pair of wedges, flouncy top and thick belt with a long dangly tassle necklace and chunky bracelet. Just need to get out more. !

Sparkle sparkle all the way!! My vintage gold sparkly dance shoes…LOVE THEM…huge, almost Pat Butcher style earrings (sorry non ‘Eastenders’ watchers-btw, saw a headline she’s leaving the show!?)…and a ridiculous, yet beautiful sparkly clutch bag. Oh-and a glass of something sparkly before I leave the house to help make my mood-you guessed it-sparkle! xxx

  123. Ruth Delaney says:

Hmmm. To glam up? Something that’s NOT suitable for running after the children in! For me – a pair of straight-leg white jeans with some white and tan flatties and some chunky jewellery. Although with such a gorgeous scarf as a giveaway I might be persuaded to ditch the beads for fabric!

  124. Susan Hahaj says:

I posted on my fB! I am Susan T Hahaj there.

Skinny jeans, heels, and a scarf do it for me! Love the scarf giveaway (my husband says I have a scarf “problem”…had to install extra hooks in the closet just to hold them all!)

  126. Ines says:

Hi sarah! Nice giveaway, really! I love scarfs and thats one of my dress-up secrets. Most of the time I keep my jeans and put on the heels, a bunch of bracelets or a big ring (I tend not to use them both at the same time, looks a bit over the top) and complement it with soft smookey eyes and a gloss. And on top goes the scarf, allways. :)

Scarves! From the teenie weeniest bikini to the most elegant designer evening gown a scarf is always the finishing touch. It lends an extra layer of elegance or whimsey and everything in between, whatever you are looking for. Wearing a really fine designer scarf is like wearing a work of art to show the world your good taste and wearing a hand croched scarf on the coldest day not only demonstrates good sense but is a whiminiscal retreat to one’s childhood. I have a zillion scarves ranging in price from $738.00 to $3.oo and I wouldn’t trade one of them

  153. Well I like to feel comfy when I go out somewhere nice and a black shift dress I bought from Zara years ago does the trick every time, I just add a little silver bangle and black shoes and handbag and I’m good to go, that lovely silver spotty scarf would look wonderful with it actually :) x

  154. Hey Sarah, I posted the giveaway on my sidebar x

  155. shirl' anderson says:

I just add a little bling to an otherwise normal outfit. Bracelet(s), necklace, earrrings. I am a t-shirt kinda gal. I can always dress those up with these accessories. The ole’ black dress works for me as well with my gold sandals.

Fancy dangly earrings, an interesting scarf and heels – only small heels at that. I’m a giant so I clomp around in flat shoes 98% of the time – if I want to feel fancy I go Amazonian with heels – it gives me the attitude for ritzin’ !

  172. Schmidty says:

Pumps! I have two pairs that are my favorites: a simple red pointy-toe with spike heel and a pair of alligator pumps that I still can’t believe I own.

  177. Holly says:

I will throw on a nice pair of boots, scarf, and make-up…things I normally don’t get to sport since I stay home with my toddlers :)

  178. Alice Shaw says:

I am very into black wrap dresses with a leopard print scarf I just got. I had to wear it for an important meeting yesterday and I felt a million dollars! I will also wear lipstick and dangly sparkly earrings to spruce up my wardrobe when I want to feel fancy. Even in jeans, a pair of silver dangly earrings, some plum winter lipstick and maybe a pretty scarf strategically thrown about my neck can dress things up in a jiffy!

  186. Mary says:

At the moment my favourite way to bling up an outfit is to put on some black heels and tights with a dress and my current favouite long black cotton cardigan with a ruffle edge. It makes any dress look special and glam for evening :))

PS I love scarves and that one looks fab – I can just imagine walking our two new wheaten terriers we got yesterday along the beach with a pair of jeans, a jacket and that scarf. I am lusting after a pr of hunter boots like yours :))

    Mary

  187. Laura says:

Jeez, I hardly ever dress up these days… not like when I used to get up to my Saturday night shenanigans anyways… but if I want to look different from my usual food smeared self. I spend more than the usual 5 mins on the hair, giving it a hairdresser worthy blow-dry, pop on a cute pair of ballet flats (heals make me tower above the hubby), replace the t-shirt with a cute cami and sheer top (love Needles & Pins), accessorize, cute jeans, and I’m ready… what for I don’t know… a night in front of the telly??? BTW did I tell you I love, love, love this scarf??? Lx

  188. You can’t go past a white shirt, stretch jeans and a scarf. I love to add my flat red shoes, red handbag and a red hat, or scrunchie or fascinator.

  189. I have shared this on facebook and on my fb page too (over 800 fans).

  190. HouseTalkN says:

Your scarves are my hats! I love me a fancy widdle hat. My cowgirl hat is my “party hat”, my panama hat is my “jazzy hat”, and my big ole beach hat is my “I didn’t have time for hair and make-up hat”!

    ::Jill

  193. Deborah Rosen says:

My choices for quick ritz: a nice bag, scarf, braclets and (in the daytime, outdoors) sunglasses. You could wear them at night, indoors, too…I don’t judge.

  194. Kelcey says:

Bling! I love to dress up a casual, comfortable dress and flats by layering on a few simple but shiny necklaces, a bracelet or two, a few rings and a fabulous pair of earrings.

  195. Kristie says:

I use alot of bling to make my outfits more flashy and dressy.

  196. Susan Ladd says:

    Hope to win :)

  197. Amy says:

Lipstick, the right shoes, and accessories galore! Being a mom of 6, I’m pretty sure that just getting out of my jeans and t-shirt uniform qualifies!

  198. linda says:

jeans with a cute pair of high heels always does the trick for me:)

    • Nicolette says:

It’s always about the accessories! In the summer, that means some special sandals (maybe with a wedge) and in the cooler seasons a fav pair of shined boots. I don’t wear my engagement ring much, so whenever I put it on… when I’m out of painting pants LOL… it makes me feel like a million bucks.

I love scarves, too… and my grandmother keeps handing them down to me as she finds them in her things, so I’m starting to collect an interesting variety – but a pretty, gray, polka dotted one? Love it! The pearls & fabric clips are cute, too. Fingers crossed.

  199. Wanda says:

Sadly, it’s actually put on some makeup and styling my hair. I’m out of school for the summer and lounging around seems to be the norm. If I shower, spruce up a bit…it looks like I’ve gone total glam! hehe!

  200. Nicolette says:

    Also facebooked this dealio-deary! :)

  201. Sarah says:

OHHH MY GOODNESS this is exciting! Especially because I L O V E your style. Okay I wish so badly I had a better and more interesting way of some ritz on but this is just how it is plain and simple. Okay if it is Spring, Fall or Winter I can do a cute hat with a scarf or a cuff bracelet or my silver chain bracelet with my sons name on it. AND sometimes….now this is exciting….Sometimes I’ll throw in a splash of color with the earrings. Okay now for summer since it gets so hot here in GJ. It is usually bracelets or my chain necklace with my sons name on it. I have a very simple style. I love wedge hills…but I am tall already 5’7″ so most of the time it’s flats. But if I’m going out and am trying to look “ritz’ ed up I’ll wear a wedge. Over all I am a jeans and cute simple tee kind of girl. I hope I answered the question. YAYAYAYAYAY Crossing my fingers.

  202. aubrey says:

I super duper LOVE Ruche AND scarves!! :)

  203. aubrey says:

oops forgot to answer the question….I dress how I decorate…eclectic! haha…I love pairing scruffy jeans with a ruffled top or sweater over a tank…long earrings and bracelets…cute flats or my fav chuck taylors! :)

  204. Sarah says:

Am I supposed to tell you I posted on FB too? Well I did. :)

  206. Becky says:

I love jeans, heels, cute earrings and a scard. I love scarves regardless if it were winter or summer.

  207. Courtney says:

A little lipstick, mascara, and some blush can go a long way! Also switching out the flats for heels instantly turns up the volume.

  208. Becky says:

Makeup and an updo go a long way towards gussying up anything. I love to wear t-shirts with jeans, ballet flats, makeup, updo, earrings and a necklace, so I can be comfy chic. I’ve been looking into scarves too and I LOVE this one.

  209. marsha says:

I put on a great scarf and the perfect lip stain~

So fun. . . it’s all in the shoes for me. . . trade out my slippers or flipflops .

  211. Sara says:

  212. Hayley says:

Oh Wow I love the scarf! I am one of those strange people who like to match my shoes to my handbag, so to jazz up my jeans I wear my tan leather flats with my tan leather handbag…

  213. diane Lanford says:

I love to put on my chunky silver jewlry, cute shoes and turquoise necklace.

  214. I’m not much for chic dressing, but I’d say this scarf with a white button-up shirt and a pair of jeans with those pretty hair clips and that bracelet would be pretty classy! That scarf is seriously gorgeous!

  215. L.B. Morgan says:

I just love the scarf and bracelet — well, I love everything! I just chopped off all my hair for summer here and it’s gotten me fired up to get the rest of myself in gear, too. I’ve been drawn to long dangly earrings to hang out from underneath my short hair and long dainty necklaces over tanks and simple pants. The scarf would be great to add to that! But I need to learn how to tie one, first. I’m just getting going here!

  216. Christine says:

    earrings and makeup

  221. Rachel says:

My instant ritzeruppers are a chic updo with a dab of my favorite perfume at the nape of my neck, a lovely scarf or shawl, a single perfect accent piece of jewelry, and classic red lipstick. Thank you for this giveaway, the scarf and bracelet would be well-placed in my wardrobe!

  222. Susan says:

well…. because I am a sad drab stay-at-home mother to way too many….. I jazz myself up with a French Tip pedicure….. and an eyelash tint. BUT when I cannot get away to the spa…. which is rare…..

I put on a crisp white t-shirt, scarf and lip gloss. That makes me feel clean &fresh……… :)

  223. Michelle says:

Oh it would have to be a skirt and heels, I only ever wear heels out at night when its a dressy occasion and I usually pack a bit more makeup on too!

  224. Lena L says:

for a fancy evening: simply black dress, strappy black heels and a single diamond necklace that was from my grandmother, with diamond studs in the ears – simple, simple, simple…..

for a more casual look: simple black pants, white tee or sweater and a bright scarf as a belt with the same necklace and earing.
    again, simple, simple, simple….

    love your blog.

    thanks lena

  225. It’s got to be something vintage – a beautiful vintage dress with some accessories makes me smile and feel great.

  227. Elaine in Laguna says:

I’m a pearl girl,, so I dress it up with a pearl ring and pearl earrings…Don’t have a bracelet, though! This would be a great finish to either my jeans, and a tee with a cardigan sweater, and wedges, or my little black dress, and heels. The scarf would be great for a weekend casual get together with the girls. I also like to kick it up with a french mani-pedi. It’s fresh and polished for any occasion. Thank you for your ongoing inspiration and the great giveaway.

    Hi Sarah,

Thanks for the giveaway!! To dress myself up a little – check the hair (naturally curly), put on some lippy, put on some jewellry, scarf is a must (summer or winter) usually slimming black pants & a flowy top……little shoes or big boots (depends on mood & weather) Done!! cheers

  234. Mary K says:

Yay – what a great giveaway! LOVE the long scarf – complete with dots!

Thinking about it – I have to say that two steps say “dress up” for me. First is fragrance – if it’s a big night out I use either Chanel No. 5 or some of my lovely Fendi (which I think they don’t make anymore – smells clean and fresh and cedar-y), Second is jewelry. I don’t generally wear anything but my wedding /engagement ring and a claddagh ring on my right hand. But I have two pieces of real jewelry – both emerald rings. My birthstone is emerald and I love greens…My husband gave me a great ring that he designed as a 25 year wedding anniversary gift and the other is a recent purchase. Anyway – either of those works to tell me I’m dolled right up – even if I’m wearing them with jeans and a tee shirt.

It’s been fun reading these comments – thanks for sharing, everybody!

I always enjoy putting on some lipstick and I enjoy a fantastic jean and cute top. I always like to finish with a big ring. I love big rings. If it’s date night, then maybe a heel depending on what we are doing.

  245. Cathy says:

I am not a paragon of style, not even wandering in the vicinity of chic! That said, I do like a pretty bracelet now & then and I love scarves in the fall & winter; need to find something light and cheery for other seasons as well.

Oh, and posture – straightening up my normally rather hunched back, pulling back the shoulders; insta-faux confidence!

  246. Rebecca says:

As a new mum, having a shower and blow drying my hair is instant chic and makes me feel like a million dollars.

  247. Emma Tandy says:

I change my perfume I love Tom Ford black orchid for a evening out, and change my bag to a smaller one with out all the kids bits and pieces and always a scarve

  248. Katie says:

I put my hair up in a bun with some kind of hair fascinator to dress it up. It always makes me feel better about myself.

I do not wear jewelry (besides my wedding ring) on a day to day basis so I like to put add cute jewelry to my outfits when I want to dress up.

  250. Happi Shopr says:

I don’t dress up much during the week since I’m mostly at home. When I do ‘dress up’ it’s all jeans, heels and a cute top

  254. Diane Baum says:

i get a hair cut, a mani and a pedi

  255. Shelby House says:

I like to add scarves to simple outfits. We went out to eat today, and I threw on a simple maroon tank top and a nice scarf, wrapped bandit-style around my neck. I rolled the bottom of my skinny jeans up and wore Wallaby’s. Simplicity really makes for a chic look, instead of looking cluttered and busy.

  256. I love to wear simple dresses (or well cut jeans and simple tops) with lots of bracelets. Plus lip gloss and mascara if it’s a big night..
Or lip gloss, heels and falsies if it’s a REALLY big night…

  257. I pull out the perfect vintage handbag from my stash. I’ve been collecting bags for years and have them from every decade and in every color and material possible (slight exaggeration … ). A pretty vintage purse is one of my favorite ways to customize any outfit. Thanks for this fun opportunity, Sarah!

I’d say just straightening my hair does it for me. ha how sad!

  261. Melinda says:

quite sure I wont win but fingers crossed anyway!! – given its winter I think a lot can be hidden under a coat with a lovely scarf wound around the neck – Im favoring cashmere at the moment as its so light and soft around the neck but beautifully warm. So, rugged up with a touch of gloss to the lips and good to go !!

  262. Jennifer R says:

I like to add a great jacket and some interesting jewelry to pep up my wardrobe when needed. reejen at comcast dot net

I take my birckenstocks off (I love love love my birckenstocks) and put on a daintier shoe. Not necessarily heels mind you but something feminine. I blowdry my hair and put on some foundation and lipstick.

I put my hair in a bun and add a flower :)

  265. Helen says:

    Helloi Sarah
Two things add glamour for me, shoes – a cripingly high heel and a stripe of dark lipitick especially at night, for daytime glam i prefer more nude colour for make-up but killer heels anytime of the day for ne

  266. lisaroy says:

A little black dress with the perfect cute bag and I’m ready to go! If I’m looking for something a little less fancy, a cute scarf and shoes will do the trick :)

  267. Cheryl says:

I’d say the little black dress (or in my case, purple) seems to be the best way of dressing up. I wear it with pearls which are very classic.

  268. Emma Peel says:

capris, a belt and shawl wrap off the hip. Fancy colorful blouse

Cardi’s …. always a cardi with jeans or capri’s or a cute skirt and a great bangle or necklace depending on the neckline! Has to be great tho and of course my sparkle flats. I’m a silver girl…so silver sparkle flats. I love a signature piece of jewelry too…currently it’s my round sterling ‘ball’ earrings. Love them. I only wear them. Always, everyday, every outfit. That’s me :)

I wear scarves…summer, fall, winter and spring! I have scarfs in every color under the sun and think they add a little pizzazz to every outfit. I also love unique, colored stud earrings. Anthropologie has some of my favorites. I love the antique look!

  281. Lori-Anne says:

Yikes! I hope it’s not too late to get in on this! Thanks for the reminder in your most recent post!
I tend to feel more fancied up with an updo, and some make-up. I used to always where make-up, but now, with little kids, it feels excessive. I save it for when I’m out in public or around someone who might actually care!
    Fingers crossed!

  282. carol l says:

Well, I don’t have many dresses-only one, so I might wear that, but usually I do my hair curly and I bought some rhinestone hair clips and I use those. Then I put on full makeup. I usually wear everything except eye shadow every day, but on special occasions I do my eyeshadow also. Nice jewelry. Then I find any of my newest shirts or a fancier one and white jeans or some other pants besides my regular ones, and wear that along with nicer sandals (my shoe collection is pathetic) and my best purse. Hubby likes when I do this and always notices.

When I try to get myself pumped to get out of my pajamas, I like to curl my hair and put on something super cute and comfy! And definitely pair that with heels. This scarf would be awesome while I am teaching in Sweden, help me be stylish in their cold weather! And instant chic to me is trying something new to my hair, something different makes you feel refreshed!!

  284. Diana says:

I put on a scarf and heels. A white blouse and some lipstick always look great too!

  289. Gianna says:

I stick with classic/casual for dress up.
