G’day lovelies.

Here today with a before shot… I know you like those right?

I found this little black unit at a garage sale and I have big plans for it lol…it is part of a pair, though the other one is a little smaller, I have that ear-marked as a bedside for one of the BC kiddos….

This one I am not sure where it is going, I think it will be in the breakfast room for napkins and linen…right now they are in a basket that sits on top of a white chair…and it is not only overflowing but very messy and I can never find anything…I thought this might solve that problem…

As you can see it is pretty scratched up…though with a clean it’s in pretty good shape and I love the baskets…in a different colour very chic and coastal…as you know I love me some basketry in this old place…the texture and casualness it gives suits me and I like to think of it with some romantic fisherman basket notions…

I recently saw something similar in a beachy boutique but to be honest I wasn’t up for spending over $800 on something for my napkins…I thought I’d rather spend that on (**hint hint Mr BC for this weekend) perfume, leather tote, patent shoes or NEW CAMERA…and so when I saw this in a garage sale for oh $790 less it came home with me…

Someone before me obviously had a similar idea…though they went black…not bad but not for me I don’t think…yeah yeah I know most of the world are painting things black…

I was going to try something very new on this, but that was before I got it up from the garage…I thought it had sides to it and was not open like this, so now I might have to change my plans a bit.

White?  Not sure…a ‘lil bit of green or blue could be nice...a green a bit like this one...though I won’t be sticking it in the sea…or maybe I could ;-)

Oh and while we are talking about painting and white, how about this for inspiration to make you run around your garage waving a paint brush at anything that does not move, check out this from Kate at Centsational Girl…

I love this project…so simple and easy, I think even I could do this….I feel the girl power tool love rushing through my veins….and it would be purrrfect for the mammoth amount of books that seem to overflow from just about every corner of this cottage…I believe it would look rather nice in my kitchen with my cooking books…

And talking about cooking thanks for the muffin liner and muffin love yesterday, too kind

p.s. Beach Cottage Linky Party tomorrow… get your links ready…can’t wait to see what good stuff you’ve got going on

Would you do the baskets a colour like green or blue, and the outer white. You could give the baskets a washed colour look. Glad to see you embracing the power tool love – only a matter of time. Mr. BC will be pleased.

    the cookbook idea is brilliant!

Love your share of Centsational’s project! With #3 on the way, we’re re-doing rooms on a budget and these would be perfect! In other searches, I just saw that someone also used some of IKEA spice racks, but Kate’s appear larger.
Thanks for all the inspiration! :)

What a cute little piece! Can’t wait to see how it turns out! I need something like that for my office. Going to be keeping my eye out now!

  15. Julie Johnson says:

I think the blue color on the vanity front in your bedroom would be heavenly, especially if you painted the frame white and the baskets the blue color, but I’m sure whatever you choose to do will be terrific as usual.

  16. Oh my goodness I so envy you for always finding the neatest stuff. I’m sure it will be a lovely piece when you put your magic to it!

  17. Just went back to look at the green chair and read the post. I am so longing for the beach trip now. Just as you said just doing and saying nothing at all, that’s what the beach does for us.

  18. I can’t wait to see what you do with it I know it’s going to be so pretty and yes to hold napkins and stuff would be a great idea!

  19. Jacqui says:

    I am loving the green!!

  20. Wow friend, you are too kind! Your little beachy shelf unit will look absolutely splendid when you put your magic painter’s touch to it! Everything you transform becomes a better version of itself, can’t wait!
