G’day lovelies!

Ooooh we have woken up to a lovely morning here on the beaches…sun is shining, sky is blue, ocean is lovely, surfers are out, we are on school hols and I am, my friends, taking a bit of a breather and heading down the beach to spend time with my beautiful family and my camera

So, seeing as I am in such a good mood, and just who knows how long that might last, I thought let’s get us some BC Easter Giveaway bling bling goin’ on. Yeah?  You know you want to.

So I have recently been looking at cameras and came across this little sweetie pie..just right to slip in your pocket on the way to the beach…

This is similar to the camera I was first using on this blog and seeing as so many people ask me about cameras, here we go…I love Canon and it would take a lot to persuade me to buy another brand now, and I’ve dabbled in a few.

It seems though that Cameras have come a long way from what I was using a couple of years ago when I started this blog though….this 14.1 Megapixel camera lets you create impressive large photos of family and friends, high-resolution imagess a 4x wide Optical Zoom lens to capture up-close and memorable images.

plus it does video too!

And the thing that caught my eye…there’s a Creative Filters Mode…a  fun, easy way to make your photography more creative. The camera does all the work – you simply choose an effect and shoot!

Other cool effects are Fisheye, Monocrome, B/W, Sepia, Poster, Miniature & more plus it even has a vintage effect…so when you shoot in Toy Camera, you get the vintage effect of a first-generation camera, for that oldie, slightly distorted, unevenly saturated, attic look we all just lurve.

And it comes in four colours and you get to choose!

With spring coming on here, I’d be shooting tulips and hyacinths and apple blossoms…plus all my sewing projects…and a sweet doggie or two…some handsome boys…and everything in sight at the beach!

  10. Lisa says:

Okay, I’m so not expecting to win this, but it is the giveaway of my dreams right now. What wouldn’t I take photo’s of ? There would be photo’s of the beach – obviously, my home projects, all blog photo’s, my fur kids, my skin kid, all those random fun and interesting things I miss because my camera takes so long to turn on. I’ve just been posting recently about my camera woes – it doesn’t like dim light – grainy photo’s, takes so long to load up, doesn’t like closeup shots etc etc. If I never won another giveaway I wouldn’t care. 14.1 meag pixels of wonderfulness, why wouldn’t I want it? And everyone I’ve asked recommends Canon.

Counting down the days to enjoy the sweet days of the shore. Then when I return snapping pics of all the beautiful scenery here in good ole’ Va.

How exciting! I would love a new camera, to document my impending move to a new country!! My old camera died some time back, and I’ve been sharing with my husband, which doesn’t work so well ;-p

I’m moving to Melbourne and am looking forward to exploring my new city, and would love to be able to take lots of pics of our gorgeous new hometown – plus I have a developing obsession with beautiful bicycles, and can’t wait to see what beauties I could snap over there!!

  64. Ohhh..I have come full circle..started with a little pocket camera, went to a Kodak bigger digital one…then my Canon (Love Canon) with all the lenses and I was just thinking I need a little one like this for taking on my flights with me to capture my work life before I retire :-)

And to think, I was just complaining about not owning a camera! ;)

Of course I would be taking loooooots of pictures for my blog, that’s a given. But I have very few pictures with my husband since we got married over a year ago (my camera broke 2 weeks before the wedding, his -that I gave him- was stolen when we got back from our honeymoon). Maybe I would make it a point to go fun places with him, take pictures of our adventures, and share the fun with the blogging world. No house (only an apartment) or kids (only our kitty cat) to take pictures of, but maybe one day!

What a fun giveaway. I hope you have fun reading all of your readers ideas!

  69. Vanessa says:

Hi Sarah, I desparately need a new camera for shooting some pics for my blog. I have been negletting my blog ever since my old camera got broken on a trip where it accidentally got lost with all my luggage for almost two days. The airline blamed it all on me for not “packing” it safe when I did and in reality was their fault loosing all my bags. With no good camera ever since, no pics have been taken in special occasions, and the blog is just behind… sad. I would love to win this sweetie!! Thank you for your generosity! Blessings, Vanessa

  70. Nicole says:

And I connected with Google Friend Connect. You twisted my arm. :)

  71. I “like” BC on Facebook!

  72. Deb says:

Wow, I just slipped home in my lunch hour to look at some photos I took this morning on my travels for work. The photos aren’t anything to do with work, its just that since blogging I see photo opportunities everywhere. I mean everywhere. I even stood back and looked twice and the clean contents of my dishwasher the other day. The glasses were lined up so beautifully and the sun was hitting them at just the right angle. You know what I mean?. So really, I would love to win because I need to have a camera at hand, just in case. Deb

  73. and I FaceBooked…can you tell I really would love this LOL

  74. Deb Gray says:

Oh what would I take photos of? Everything. My kitties, all the gorgeous flowers, sunsets here on Georgian bay, – more sunsets, and even more sunsets – winter, summer, spring and fall. I would take photos of the stunning colour here in the autumn, barns – barns with red roofs (I love red roof barns…hopefully more lighthouses this summer and even new shoes. yes Sarah, I will buy new shoes and share them with my friends on facebook and in my blog.

I got my first Canon A1 (I think) back in university as a grad pressie from my parents. (that was ohh so many years ago ;) Ever since then I have had a Canon – and it has gone everywhere with me. I take it on day trips, out for walks, at every family and friend function – ever vacation :) I have a Canon Rebel but it is an SLR and not digital and just recently my digi camera bit the dust :( the old call phone shots just don’t work.

So with a new camera you would all see the latest photos of my kitties :) the herd of deer at the top of the hill in the early morning on my way to work, and all the flowers as they poke through the ground this spring. The tulips will be out in another few weeks – I simply can’t wait.

Oh and in case i forgot – a new pair of shoes :)

    Deb

  75. I want to pop that baby in my purse when we run off for my kids first ever trip to the beach! We live in Denver, they are 2 and 4 and it will present some great footage!

BUT my darn camera broke and I can’t afford to buy a new one right now. So thank you so much for the chance to win one.

  89. NancyLee says:

Wow! I feel like a winner just stumbling upon your post. I was just here earlier and this wasn’t here. I have an old fashioned Nikon which I use to take photos of almost anything I see everyday. It’d be nice for a change to take vintage photos straight from a camera like your Canon. I live by the beach and the atmosphere would look great in vintage.

  98. I am a follower on GFC

  99. Alice says:

lol! Lately it has been pictures of literally everything that makes me stop and look twice. My kids, my cat and dog. My flowers in the garden. Our progress on the home and garden make overs. Of pieces of artwork (if it can be called that)created by me or by my daughter on her chalkboard. Of furniture (and other decor items) makeovers. Of chocolate cake, buttermilk cake iced in chocolate and sprinkeld with hundreds and thousands made by myself and daughter. Of fruit in the hope to entice my brother to eat more of it as easily as I did with the above mentioned cakes. Of my husband. Of the national park and it’s river running through its centre wishing they would resurrect the baths that existed not in the too distant past. Of our glorious harbour and many wonderful beaches….Of friends dancing and laughing with our kids at an ungodly hour of night to favourite music and enjoying dinner and desert afterwards…Of my new “furry nephew”, a great dane puppy that is so gorgeous that makes me want another dog, can’t wait ’till he is full grown he will look spectacular…. So much, much more… What do I do with all these pictures you ask. I email them all to friends and family mainly for a laugh or a stop and smell the roses momment in the middle of a busy and hectic workday.

My camera just broke a few weeks ago so this would be the most amazing giveaway to win! I would use it for food pictures on my nutrition blog, project pictures on my craft/decor blog, snap shots of my precious yorkie, and everything in between!

  104. Alima says:

I’ve already “liked” your new page on fb and connected through google, so i’ll just comment.
Great giveaway. Glad to hear from a cannon lover. So many bloggers seem to love Nikon. I bought my first Nikon last year and I hate it!

I would rely on the convenience of this little number to take photos on the go. If it’s already in my bag, I can pull it out when the herons fly down the river on my morning walk, when my baby takes her first steps (almost there!), when I’ve bought a dozen roses for $8 and want to capture the four little bouquets it’s turned into around the house — and upload it into my new blog, lickety split.

  108. nicole beltane says:

does it count that i told my husband as well.
and im now trying to convince him i need this camera for my sister wedding it two weeks.

  109. Hera says:

Wow! I love Canon. I would love a digital camera with a higher megapixel. I’m still using a Canon Power Shot that’s only 2.0MP! I would use it for better pics that I can enlarge of my kids, pets, projects, garden–you name it. I’ve been using this one for about four years. I carry it everywhere & even use it for my Girl Scout troop. This would be really nice. Thanks for considering me.

  110. Theresa C says:

I would take pictures of our upcoming Las Vegas vacation.

  113. New Facebook Follower HURRAH

  114. Oh, my current camera is 4 years old and very basic, so basic I use my phone instead! Then do the upload, editing and all other things photographic and this would save so much time. Not to good with the craft and showing details
Plus new Grandchild arriving in November, happy snaps a must there!

Facebook, Google connected and liked on my Blog,

  115. Bianca says:

I think the question is ‘what won’t you take photo’s of’? I’d use it for probably everything ;) blog pics, house pics, holiday pics… and I’d love to take it on that trip that’s in the making… south america…. sounds pretty exciting…

  118. Kayla says:

i want to capture pictures of the windy city- chicago, il!

    & my niece finley grayce.

  119. Laura says:

I’d take horizon photos of the sunrise and sunset from my little house on the prairie, snapshots of my husband and the freshly blooming orchid he husbanded through a long twiggy winter, and pics of the bbq at our neighbor’s house tonight, where little girls rode their bikes past the driveway, handlebar streamers swirling in the downhill breeze.

  120. tami says:

Id take anniversary pictures of the little cabin we rented in the big Red Wood forrest. Oh how I can’t wait!

  121. Ankita says:

Giveaway time again! And here is my two pence on what I would make this beautiful lensed baby click!

Where I live there are just so many gardens, so many flowers in bloom. They will def. be the first ones I will click. Then there are those hawkers that patrol the house lanes during the late afternoons. I look forward to photographing them during the weekend afternoons, as those are my days off actually! And, lastly there is a trip planned to a place called Pondicherry (In the Southern Part of India) sometime in June. It is a lovely place with rocky beaches and piers. I would love to photograph them for my blog, you see :)

  122. Tisa says:

Smiley faces, pouty faces, silly faces, cranky faces – I just adore faces… especially on my precious girls. There’s nothing else I’d rather take a piccy of!

  123. Sherry Fraser says:

I would be taking even more photos of my grandchildren…..those little people are the highlight of my week. Friday night at Granny’s house is a time of fun and cuddles. Then on Saturday we paint and play and laugh and sometimes I am lucky enough to catch it in a photo so I can enjoy it forever. This little camera would fit in my pocket better than my beloved Canon Rebel and I am sure I would catch even more moments to remember and share with my family and friends.

  124. Getter says:

I think I take pictures of everything basically.. my brother’s new born baby, my mom’s garden, my boyfriend, our ferrets, landscapes, flowers..
Right now I am without a camera.. (brother took his back) but I’ll be in Paris in a month.. what I’d really like is to take pictures there.. to capture the athmosphere, the people, the cupcakes, the houses, the streets.. everything that catches the eye!

  125. Rebecca says:

Oooooooh!!! I need this!!! Really, really need it! What would I not take pictures of? My camera broke when I was on vaction in Europe last summer. . . at the beginning of my month-long stay. Fortunately I was able to borrow one. I still have not replaced mine – also a Canon. I like a camera I can keep with me at all times for pics of unexpeced moments, seashells, sunsets, the eagles flying at the beach, old barns, my Chocolate Lab. . .just about anything. My fingers are crossed!!!

  126. Priscilla says:

I would take pictures of my roses, and lovely old character houses while I’m out. Thanks for the opportunity.

  127. Noemi says:

I love this camera, its so little and nice, and makes video…. hmmmmm :) As a mother of two little girls I make photos almost every minute in our life, but our camera is so big, cant take it with me if I just go for a quick walk or shop… so I still need a nice little ‘friend’ who I can put in my bag and make more photos, on the way, outside, anywhere.
    Thanks for the chance!

  128. Noemi says:

    New follower on FB :)

  129. Liz W-B says:

Oh this would be perfect for my photo walks when I dont feel like (or have the energy) to lug around my SLR.
I could get some great photos of the cows around our house or even my multiplying fur kids that really are my first love when it comes to taking photos.
Would be the perfect reason for me to get out and about and ignore my health problems.
Plus you cant go wrong with a Canon :)

  130. Liz W-B says:

Have just liked on FB as well and when my brain is working a bit better will do a bit more plugging :)

  131. Crystal says:

I’m constantly taking photos of almost everything, but I have a trip to Montreal planned this summer, so I would definitely be taking TON of photos there!

  133. Crystal says:

  134. Mira says:

I would keep it very close to me, ready for memorizing my summer. It would be my digital Smena. :)
As good as I know myself I would probably take pics of colorful people in the park, or beautiful abandoned houses, or my toes…I’m not kidding for the last one. Have you tried it? Just point the camera and shoot. No mater where you are. It’s like your personal travel notes!

  135. Mira says:

  136. Mira says:

  137. Palomita says:

Hi. Thank you for the awesome giveaway. My husband and I are are about to purchase our first home. We would use this camera to capture everything from paking up our tiny apartment to transporting a truck full of our stuff to setting up our new home to planting our first tree to installing shelf paper in the built-in pantry to repining the front door etc, etc, etc… But my favorite capture would be our cats moving about our new home with hardwood floors (we’ve always had carpet). :) THANK YOU!

  138. Laura says:

What a great giveaway! If I win, I”ll be taking photos for my blog, plus photos of my daughter and two dogs. Oh, and Noosa next time I go there. I also love the beach, especially if there is a good cafe nearby. I’ve also liked your new facebook page. :)

  139. Janmary says:

I think some photos on the theme of “the view from….” would be great – the view from my kitchen window, my car, my favourite seat in the park, my view from the loo!!!

Thanks for another mention of my bag giveaway. Apparently there will be more Orlando Kiely designs in the next few months – can’t wait!

  142. Jen says:

I would definitely take the camera to the beach!!! I absolutely love going to the ocean when the tide is out and lift up the rocks. I used to do this as a child and now as an adult I can still spend hours doing this! I love seeing the little hermit crabs, looking at star fish…whatever runs out from under the rock is like a magical surprise to me :) I would love to take pictures of the creatures I find plus the gorgeous water and scenery…I would put it to good use for sure!

  143. Jo says:

Love this camera! I have a big Canon (which I love!!) but this would be PERFECT to keep in my handbag…you know, for those times when you wish you had your camera? And with 3 kids, that happens a lot! LOL I have a ratty little old kodak that’s been dropped a few times and really isn’t up to the job anymore. I’d have replaced it by now if I could afford to! And I’m so glad to find you on facebook, too! Thanks for the opportunity to win!!

  144. i usually never enter but your giveaways are way too tempting… and worldwide.

this toy camera will be perfect for travelling when my heavy nikon seems too heavy.

i’d definitely try out all the filters and make lots of self-portraits and photos of me and my boyfriend (i’m kind of hoping he won’t notice a small camera and won’t mind:)).

  145. Jen says:

    I liked your Facebook page!

  146. Jen says:

I am a Google Friend Connect follower (Jen) :)

  147. Elizabeth says:

Sarah, I would pop her in my hand bag and I’d never have to say again “I wish I had my camera” : )

  148. Robyn says:

What would I be taking pictures of?
This summer is going to be an adventure! I’m a full-time student (no breaks until August 2012!) so anytime off will be looking for adventures: climbing the Chief, maybe braving the Grouse Grind (again), finding the most unique coffee shop and of course capturing the uniqueness of my friends! There’s just so much to do!

  149. Robyn says:

And I’m now connected through Google Connect! yay!

  150. Kirsi says:

This would be just what I’ have been hoping for! I do have a Canon 450d and I love it, but it’s way too heavy to carry with me at all tmes. This would be the best to have :) The answer is “I’d take pictires of disappearing snow, spring flowers, my girl and my dog. Sudden memories, happy moments, joy, smiles, knitted things, chicolate muffins, next eastern bunnies,..)

  151. Lee Mills says:

Hi Sarah – very cool camera indeedy, I LOVE Canon too and carry my little trusty mate everywhere with me, sadly my girlies have started to love taking candis shots too and sometimes my camera disappears mysteriously out of my bag??? Hmmm my own very NEW camera in the colour of my choice well that is a competition to enter for sure! I snap away at everything but mostly I use it for memories, my husband’s family is having a family renuion this Easter, over 350 people, WOW (his dad was one of 16 can you beleive it), its held up in Coffs Harbour and will be a seaside gathering, imaging the cool pics I could take with the north coast in the background…lots of memories there! Thanks for letting me take part

  152. Deborah says:

Great giveaway Sarah, I would take photos of my garden, a couple of reluctant photo shy teenage children and the beach as the weather is lovely at the moment x

  155. Susan says:

oh my…… you know when I first saw this I just about jumped out of my skin and am doing a little happy dance. Even if I don’t win I know someone will just have an amazing time when they do get it. An inbuilt filter feature….. wowzers. I {like everyone else I suppose} don’t shop for cameras all that frequently. They come ahead in leaps & bounds don’t they??

Now IF I win…… I would have to say my primary photographic subjects will be my twins….. and then the rest of my children…. and then the beach and pottering around my home….. maybe if I get desperate I might take one or two of my long suffering husband :):)

I joined your google connect… and facebook… and your other fb page.. oh what the heck.. just put me in for a few chances…. a few hundred should do it! haha xx

  156. samantha says:

    3 entries please.

Thanks for a great give way! :)

  157. I used to have a lovely little pocket camera that I used for when I did wedding makeups at the Brides’ trial and her wedding day. My littlest one (2 years old), found it and killed it. It was great for the beach too and just randomness….is that a word? Anyhoo, that’s what I would use it for if I won your giveaway.
    x Marnie

  158. Laura says:

I’d be snapping away at everything that takes my fancy… whether that be furniture, flowers, the ocean or the kiddies… although I wish this camera had a ‘make children look at the camera setting’, as my poor folks back home only get pictures of the back of my girls heads! Lx

Good morning from Florida:) Your day at the beach sounds lovely! This morning I’ll be photographing boxes of old bottles for my etsy shop. I would absolutely LURVE to have this one because currently I’m using a borrowed one that likes to turn itself OFF whenever it jolly well feels like it. Not so nice in 90 degree heat when I’ve got everything staged just so and then I can’t snap my photos! Thanks for the chance to win:) Have a fun day at the beach with your kiddos and hubby.

    :)

  169. Juliette says:

Worldwide!! Yeaaah Yuppiee! =) I would bring this camera with me when I think the bigger one would be too big and not fit in my purse or bag. Maybe when I go out at night with some friends, or to the seaside, swimming or other outdoor activities where a big camera would be too “uncomportable”.

Wow, what an amazing camera! I LOVE the fact that it has the creative filters on it. My friend has a new camera that has this feature and she has taken some wonderful pictures with it – just everyday normal pictures of her daughter that look like a professional took them! I would use this camera to take photos of my two beautiful daughters, my husband, our cats, our farm…pretty much anything. The fact that it is small enough to take with you everywhere…the possibilities are endless. Right now I would be using it to take pictures of all the floods and washed out roads near us. Not to mention all the wildlife we get walking through our yard. This is an amazing give away and I want to say thanks for giving us all this opportunity to win such a wonderful prize. I would treasure it! Oh and did I mention that I absolutely LOVE photos and scrapbook them as well! My girls are starting to love photos as much as me…so it is just a matter of time when they will want their “kid” cameras upgraded…so if I won this one, I would let my oldest have my current camera, and she would be in 7th heaven! Thanks again!

Pictures need to be taken of the new peacock shelter that I spent the day building and the picket fence when it is done. I get so motivated from the wonderful makeovers in blogland that I’m preparing to paint my bedroom and makeover some furniture I’ve curbed. 353. Angie Dixon says:

I am a photographer (mostly nature and zoos, but I’ve done pet photography and a local football team, and I’ve been asked to shoot a close friend’s wedding). What would I take pictures of with this?

    My life.

I’m not being flip. My main rig weighs about seven pounds and is huge. I can’t carry it with me. Sometimes I steal my kids’ cameras and carry them with me, but I do not have a walking-around camera, and I need one. The camera in my phone is completely inadequate to capture the volunteer rose outside the library, the little bitty boy with his great big dad playing in the park, the two rottweilers sitting in the front seats of a parked car at Wal-Mart as if they were driver and passenger (missed that one because I didn’t even have my phone with me) and the great smile on my daughter’s face while she’s hanging out after school and doesn’t see my car in the pickup line yet.

Yes, I have a great camera. For going out on photo shoots. But I would really love and appreciate this camera for every other minute of my life, and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to dream about it.

  354. Cheryl Pieper says:

I think Angie Dixon, the comment before me, should get it. I don’t know her but it sure sounds like she would put it to good use! Happy Easter one and all!

  355. sky says:

I would take photo’s of my beautiful precious daughter. Who took 4yrs, 5 miscarriages and a stillborn daughter born at 20wks to get.
I am trying very hard to savour every moment with her but it just seems to be going waaaaay to fast. She is growing and changing in the blink of an eye.
If i was able to capture all these precious moments not only would my heart be bursting with love everytime i look at her now but it will continue for a lifetime as all the moments will be frozen in time <3

The best thing about a picture is that it never changes only the people in it do………………….

  356. Kathleen says:

I so wished I had a good camera to capture the 9 year old as he pitched his first Majors Little League game a couple weeks ago. 373. Linda Granger says:

    - I would love to win this so I don’t have to haul my SLR around everyplace! I’m trying to do a 365 – picture a day for a year. I’d take pictures everyday of everyday things. Sometimes that means the traffic jam, others the beautiful sunrise. I even have a bag of words for inspiration one day it was doors and I took a ton of cool pictures. (I’m even willnig to shaer my list for the right bribe hehehe!)

  374. Tamara says:

I would love to keep it in my purse for taking pictures of my students on field trips and creating family memories.

  375. Diane R. says:

I would use the camera to record the excursions I take with my grandkids. So there would be pictures of them with the animals in the zoo and the butterflies at the California Academy of Sciences, and the fish at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

  376. Heather S says:

I would take pics of our next family reunion

  377. Ashley says:

What an amazing giveaway! I would use it to take better quality pics to make my blog better. It would also come in pretty handy on my vacation to Napa in October!

  378. Dianne says:

I would be able to take this little baby with me where ever my tween and I go. Right now she still likes being with mom so I would like to do some great outdoor activities with her in the coming warm weather months. If I had this camera with me I could capture all the fun , whether it is riding our bikes hanging out at the park or anything else we might come up with. Then I would have some proof of the fun we can have together when she is a teen and doesn’t think it is so cool to hang out with mom anymore and some lovely memories.

  379. Anne Taylor says:

I live on the southern tip of Vancouver Island and this camera would be perfect to take photos of everything around me….Windsurfers, Waves, Moutains, Wildlife, Wildflowers, Gardens………oh everything lol

I would be using the camera to forever record the wonderful events leading up to our daughters wedding in June. So many fun days ahead. Wedding showers, staggettes, and days just gathering together to create wonderful decorations for the wedding, some of which we have found here on your wonderful site. The whole wedding decor is basically white shabby chic.

  392. Donna Irvine says:

I would take that little camera everywhere with me. What would I get out of my bag when I want to take pics of things I style up by the beach? The canon… What would I grab out of my pocket when I want to take photos of vintage stuff at markets? The canon… Oh, the joy and happiness it would bring. :) x

  393. Cynthia D says:

I would take pictures of EVERYTHING. My mom while she’s baking, my boyfriend playing guitar, my sister painting, my garden growing, the cat stretching, the sun setting, a child playing, a couple dancing, the hundreds of dogs i work with everyday in their funny little doggie moments that i’ve been missing. I love taking pictures and haven’t had a camera for months now after mine broke. I miss it so much. thanks for the opportunity!

  394. Jan Johnson says:

I’d take pics of my family – grown kids and husbands are worth photos too. Then there’s the lakes, the woods, husbands guitars (such beautiful wood). On a really lucky day maybe I could get a picture of Ireland and the sea there.

I would take a photo of my soon to be 86 year old mother’s hand palm up with my 3 year old grandson’s hand palm down in hers. And pics of sandy toes, bucket and shovels on the beach, my morning glories when they bloom and the red swing which was hung in an old oak tree here at my apt. community by a young man who does this and calls it “The Red Swing Project” so people can swing and revisit their childhood ways. (He uses retired climbing rope and wooden seats he paints red so they will stand out.) and does it all for free all over the city!

  404. Melanie B says:

Definitely would be taking pics of my little baby boy and my four year old daughter for family far away to see, for my blog, and for my FB account.

  405. I’ll be taking pics of every craft market I go to…and that’s a lot! Also of my crazy chickens in my garden!

For me I would take lots of pics of my cat Miss Moggs, the big bull ant crawling across my ceiling, my nieces and nephew, my garden of weeds, the moon and the sun (not recommended without sunnies) and anything else that I can point a camera at.
    - & Good luck with the Aussie blog comp -

  407. Helen Thoms says:

What would I do with a sweet little camera, well… i have started a project here in christchurch with the aid of a borrowed camera. Because of the earthquake here in February we Cantabrians have become very sensitive to any movement of the ground. So when cars speed past your house or buses and trucks go by, your whole house shakes and it sets your heart to beating fast… so what have residents of this fair city done to conteract this … they have created home made road signs of all shapes and sizes with varying messages asking the traffice to be thoughful and reduce speed, slow down or drive @ 20 KMP. I love this pro-active approach to a problem and the pleas on the signs look stunning when photographed. So rather than waiting to borrow a camera I could take a photo anytime I came across inspiration in my day!

  408. bj says:

I’d love to have a camera that I keep on me all the time (and is not in the blurry form of a phone!) This way I can snap the photo of my kids at the moments of funny or sweet, or while on a walk a picture of a newly sprouting fern, or of my dog running at the park. I always miss the perfect picture – how great would it be to have a camera with power and smallness?! awesooomee!

  413. Jeff says:

It would be nice to have a newer camera to take pictures of those special cherished moments of family, friends, and loved ones that only a picture can capture for future viewing and memories.

    • Jeff says:

I also voted your blog as the best blog in the Best Australian Blogs 2011 Competition. Good Luck!!!

  414. I’d be taking pictures of my girls non-stop. I have been so frustrated with my current (expensive) Fuji camera, and need a new camera that is capable of taking a decent shot. These years are too precious to leave them to poor quality pictures.

  415. Lynda E. says:

Our son is graduating from high school in June and starting college (5 hours away!) in August, so I’ll have lots of “lasts and firsts” I need to capture.

  416. Marcie says:

With my new Canon camera I would definitely be taking pictures of lovely vintagy items for my Etsy shop, RedTelly. And, if it ever decides to stop being winter here in the northern midwest of the US I will be out in my garden in a flash taking pictures of anything green that finally decides to poke out of the ground. If I’m lucky I may be able to “shoot” the miserable deer that keep wandering into the garden, trying to eat our pretty green things as soon as they appear.

  417. Judith says:

I’d be taking pictures of family celebrations attended by most of the extended family – for elderly grandparents who were feeling too poorly that day to attend.

I would take pictures of my garden as things sprout and grow throught the spring and summer. I would love to document it all!

  430. Violet says:

What a great giveaway!! What I would take pictures of are just photos of everyday life with my husband and Aussie puppy (still call him my ‘puppy’ even if he’s almost a year old.) Photos that will make us look back and share with our future children someday of when we were still (fairly) young and our life together amidst all the trials and tribulations (my husband is in the military and it’s been pretty hard these last few months; uncertainty with what will happen or where we will have to go can be quite defeating for one’s spirits.)

I hope to be blessed to win such an awesome camera! :)
    Thanks again!

  431. Cathy Duvall says:

I absolutely love your blog and your beautiful pictures. I would strive to take as beautiful pictures as you do. I subscribe to about 50 blogs but only have time to read about 5 per day and yours is always a must read! I love the feel of your pictures and the kind tone of your posts. As I said before, my mother, 91, would be my best photographic subject but I also have a yorkipoo and a toy fox terrier who desperately need many cute pictures taken. Thank you for considering me!

I would take pictures on my honeymoon! Its in a week and a half and I do not have a camera! I love to notice the little beautiful things in life – and as we are honeymooning in the mountains, I think that would be absolutely amazing.
I’m also an aspiring interior designer and I would love to be able to take photos of my designs to share with the world and to have pictures to use for my business I want to start! :)

  436. Curtis Burnham says:

Well I am getting married on the 4th of July, our camera just broke and we are going to Cabo San Lucas Mexico for our honey moon, we are SCUBA divers as well, so We would be taking picture of everything under water, on our honey moon, plus everything else under the sun and moon light there, we dont have tons of money so we saved up a lot for our honey moon, there is so much to say, I could say I would take pictures of EVERYTHING, but I am more into the memories of my life, and the life I will be creating with my future bride, she If I won this she would be so happy, we need something to make the memories we will have for years to come spectacular! we would be creating our life story with this camera. Thanks for your time in reading this and I sure do hope to win!

  437. Bryan says:

it would be nice to have a little one to carry in my pocket to take the every snaps of daily life with two girly girls and two girly dogs. but since my slr cost so much i can’t justify purchasing another camera… but it doesn’t make sense to lug a huge slr around everyday ‘in case’ of a picture op.

We are heading to France in June so I would love to take those amazing vintage looking shots in the old streets of Nice perhaps some of the Le Cours Saleya market of the not to be missed flowers and food, the cathedrals, the old buildings, the list is endless. Then some fantastic shots in Paris of bakeries and the old streets, buildings would be in order. From there the country lanes of County Cork in Ireland then to the streets of Bristol and London bringing it home via Dubai for some trekking in the desert. Hi. I love reading about your life – so normal and happy. I keep my camera with me always – I try to catch a shot of my lorikeets in the morning on a dewy leaf, my niece with food all over her gorgeous face, my son when he lets me come close enough to see his handsome face, my golden retriever rolling on her back and squiggling – I love it all and try to catch it all. My camera is a little tired and it would be lovely to have a new one to keep up with the chronicle of my life. Thanks.

I’m a GFC follower and facebook visitor. What a generous gesture. I love to take photos of anything that takes my breath away – those magic moments. Grand children, nature, beautiful places, and, with time and patience, birds, butterflies, insects, flowers, family celebrations and those landmarks in life! I also record the renovation of our old French farmhouse and our finds in the vides greniers (car boot sales with extras), brocantes (antique shops) and depots vents (second hand shops). We photograph interesting places we visit – and rural France must be one of the most beautiful places on earth!!!!

I’m a Canon user Photographer but because my camera is so heavy I end up only taking it with me when I leave the house half the time. And all of the times I DON’T take it with me I end up missing something and wishing I had it. If I had a little camera I could take pictures of all the cute (and not cute) things my kids do on a normal basis. EVERY TIME I LEAVE THE HOUSE!

I love to take pictures of my son at the beach – I am doing a life long series of these; it’s a continous theme of mine. Really, anything that is beautiful Sarah! I love taking a picture of anything that captures not only my eye, but my soul too. Photos are my “forever” keepsakes!

  495. Bec H says:

Oh how I would love this little camera! We are travelling around Australia at the moment and I am taking photos of my kids on my iphone to send to my Mum simply because it fits in my pockets and is simp-le to use. The SLR is in the bottom of a bag and has been since about day 3… If I had this little Canon imagine the photos I could send Granny of our boys!!!

  496. Carolyn says:

I have a brand new grandson, he is ONLY 7 weeks old. His name is ZION. I also have a son that is graduating next month, and another son that is getting married in June. Gee, you can only imagine what I will be taking pictures of. And the only camera is Have is on my Iphone. Great for pinch hitting, but I’m ready to have a real big girl camera. So, this would be oh so lovely, and perfect timing. Either way, it’s delightful and so generous of you to offer such lovely gifts. As usual you inspire us all. Thank you.

  497. Bridget says:

I’ve been meaning to start a blog for a few months -inspired by reading a beach cottage. You’ve recently given me the tips for successful blogging – but I do need a decent camera . I want to capture where I live (deep English countryside), what I like to do and the fascinating people I meet and do them justice.

With a Canon I can! Or I could If I won the camera…..

  498. Babs says:

I would use this lovely for taking pictures of so many things for my blog. How fun having something little to slip in my pocket at all times.

Thanks for the op and hope you get all the votes you need, I voted!!

  519. Krisztina says:

    Oh, a camera! How great!

What would I do? What would I not do?

First of all I would take copious amounts of pictures of my son … which is something I used to do … but then he was getting older and did not want his picture taken every minute, the camera broke and never really got fixed, there was always somewhere to run to and no time … you name it. However, lately I’ve been trying to take more photos of him even with the old clunker of a camera.

Secondly, I’d take pictures of both my house and my garden. I’d force myself to organize them and send them to my Mom who lives and ocean and half a continent away from me. Because with a new camera I would no longer have the excuse that “It’s just too much trouble”.

Thirdly, I would slip the little beauty into my purse and take her everywhere with me and record all my adventures along the way … sunrises, flowers, the bees and the bugs, the wind blowing the branches, the little beach we go to picnic … all the beautiful things life has to show us …

  520. Angela says:

    My kids :)
Nothing is better than catching them on camera doing the darnedest things

Then I’d calm down and practice capturing the emotions in the faces of my family and friends during special occasions… and tablescapes… and walks on the beach… and storefronts at night.. and actually I probably would just keep it in my hand at all times. PS. I creep myself out with how many times I ‘like’ things on your facebook page but I can’t stop!

  560. Courtney says:

Hi Sarah! Thanks so much for the giveaway! How fun! My camera has certainly seen better days and none of my blog pics are quite up to Beach Cottage par, despite my best picnik-ing! If I had a new camera I would take a photograph every day for a year of something simple, meaningful or representative of my life beginning June 17. I’m getting married that day and my fiance and I have discussed how cool it would be to try to capture our day, every day, of the first year of our marriage. It could be the meal I magically whip up for us (uhhh…hopefully), the hole in the apartment wall we accidentally made trying to hang a new picture (let’s hope that doesn’t actually happen), a treasure found in a walk through the park, whatever! We just want to capture and remember our first days together. And preferably with a non dropped-one-too-many-times-so-it’s-kinda-fuzzy camera : )
Thanks for the chance to win!
    Courtney

I do love the effects you get.. My husband goes on about the F Stops??? etc
He doesn’t have enough patience to teach me so this year I have determined that I am going to do some of the stuff I have been
talking about. Just Do It! I need to make a list and follow through because it seems like over the last little while I have lost myself a little or a lot in the depths of trying to get a business of 30years from going under. I need to rise above and focus on the good things
The things I love and just recently Photography was something that I realised I loved. Only taken me 55years but better late than never.
Sorry I just realised I’m writing a novel…. and you have so many to read.
Who knows I might take photos and videos of our business Easy Composter and it might just make the difference.

Only I don’t have any other camera then the one on my phone to document this process!!! We have put all our money into getting the house livable again. It was a total dump when we bought it!!! 613. Kelsey Kopec says:

I am a amateur photographer. I have a nice Canon Rebel DSLR, but no longer have my 6 mpx point and shoot digital camera that used to be my one and only love. The Rebel is awesome, but it’s really annoying to lug around everywhere I go. And I kid you not, I like taking pictures everywhere I go. So let’s just say that when I don’t have my baby (the Rebel ^_^) around, my cell battery drains pretty darn fast. I take pictures of everything–my friends, events like concerts/shows/parties/etc, random people and things I see that look interesting, colourful things, shiny things, animals, anything…you name it, I probably have a picture of it. My favourite thing to just snap on the go is the sky. It is ever-changing, and is always beautiful no matter what crazy shenanigans are going on in the atmosphere. Nature is definitely something I love taking photos of. And if you’re good and know how to use camera settings correctly, a little point-and-shoot Cannon can even create some photographs just as well as a DSLR can. The fact that this one is 14 megapixels just excites the heck out of me, and I want it–BAD. Winning this would definitely save me a couple hundred bucks. For a 19 year old living on her own–this would be a god send!

  614. MelissaO says:

My husband is the one who’d go batty for this. We haven’t had a digital camera since our other one died. He takes pictures of everything and especially loves to: take pics when we go away for the weekend to show his family and also take tons of pictures of his family in Mexico when we visit them. He especially likes the latter, as he looks at them throughout the year when he’s homesick. He’s also learned how to add photos on Facebook, so that’s especially exciting for him.

Well right now what interets me and has for a while are abandoned buildings. I live in Philly and there are a lot in area and they have some interesting architecture. So those are what I would be taking pics off. I love thought of transformations.

  617. Suellen Coveney says:

I have a photo fetish – I take lots and lots of photos of anything and everything, but most of all, the family. The family would love a camera ‘cos they might just a chance to take some photo’s then ;-)

  618. Cottage Gal says:

Ohhhhhhhhhh, I could SURE use this baby RIGHT now! I am 8 + months pregnant and lugging my DSLR around in my diaper bag or purse is just too much. I take pictures of everything – the beach, the beautiful golf courses that surround us, birds, alligators, my growing bump, and most of all, our 2 year old. Lately I’ve been leaving my girl (AKA camera) at home and it never fails that I regret it. With a second baby almost here, I would burn up this bad boy!

  619. Cathy says:

Now that the spring has finally come to the midwest, I would love to be able to photograph the blossoms gently blooming and my daughter is bringing her new puppy to visit for Easter. I can’t wait to meet her and to photograph her meeting the spring for the first time

I looooveeee photography. If I had a smaller camera I could take it more places then I could my larger camera. It would be easy to carry around. As it is I already take pictures of EVERYTHING but I usually only use my phone because its easier to carry. I would love to have a 14 mega pixels camera. My larger camera is so old its not even 14 mega pixels :( ! I would capture so many memorable moments! Outings with the family, my furry children, vacations, happy days, sad days, laughter, and tears….. everything!

  625. ooooh… lovely giveaway! I’d be going nuts taking photos for my blog, but I have realized I’ve beent taking too many pix of tablescapes, etc, and not enough of my kiddos… uh oh. so I have made a new commitment to do more of that, so there would be lots of them, too!

  626. I “like” your new facebook page very much :-}

  627. I’m your “friend in google”, too!

  628. Couldn’t get this sweet little camera off my mind today! Wished I had it with me as my students and I were decorating our classroom door for summer. We painted old flip flops and hung them on the door! It was quite fun and the pictures sure would have been phenomenal! Can you post what type of camera this is? If I don’t win it, I’d love to look into purchasing it one day…aloha.

  629. Robyn says:

    Honestly? EVERYTHING.

I still need to get into the habit of taking a camera with me everywhere I go to make sure I capture things for my blog or for everyday personal photo’s. The camera I use for the blog is big and chunky with a separate zoom lens and is just too much to carry around all the time. With one of these babies, I can simply slip it in my bag and snap away at leisure.

  630. karen says:

I would take pictures of my dogs this summer at the beach and on trail walks in the woods! And also pictures of any thing that catches my eye when out walking my dogs around our neighborhoods here in Canada. We have recently been walking a lot of neighborhood lanes that run behind the houses and they can be very beautiful and would make a great photography subject!
Thanks for the chance to win! And most of all, thank you for this blog!
    xoxo Karen

I would take fairy photos of my little girls

  634. Pam says:

I would delight in taking better photos of old french doors! Whenever we are out and about here in beautiful Poitou Charentes I try and capture the essence of the passing of years through the faded, dusty, peeling, cracked old doors that still guard the entrance to many an ancient old building… the old door furntiure, patina’d with age: fascinating big old door knockers; how many hands have touched them over the years.. have they been rattled feverishly by someone in trouble? Tapped shyly by a young man clutching a bunch of flowers? Banged menacingly by someone owed money? This is what I want to try and capture!

  635. Imogen says:

I would style the food I cook then take photos! (I LOVE 2 cook)
I LOVE photography and the beach, (there like a match made in heaven) so I would take pictures of the beach! :)
    And ANYTHING else I saw!
    Imogen!

  644. cath says:

I’ll be taking a picture a day of my ordinary life (aka POTD, Project Life concept from Becky Higgins). Capturing the everyday – this covers everything from the tomatoes in my backyard to my daughter’s new shoes, the pile of bags on my table after the Coles Online delivery guy has been, my office desk, the clothes drying on the clothesline or my baby’s first tooth. It has widened my subject matter significantly, worth checking out!

  670. blue fruit says:

I would capture a frozen moment in time of those perfect glimpses of unexpected beauty which so often grace our eyes on the daily journey of everyday life, but which I can never hold because I don’t have a camera this good!

It could be morning sunlight highlighting the veins of a green leaf, or afternoon sun slanting across the roof profile of a beautiful building, or the coyly shy smile of a young engaged couple seen walking on the beach holding hands ~ these are the fleeting glances which, when captured and enhanced by a good camera such as this one, allow us to stop and smell the roses. And after all, isn’t that what photography is all about?

  671. Tracy says:

I would take photos of my two sons and lots of photos of spring flowers, trees, and gardens:-)

  672. toni says:

  676. Oh how desperately I need a good camera. I love taking photos(since becoming a blogger) but im so limmited by only having my I-phone. “what would you be taking photos of with this sweet little baby in your pocket?”

A better question is what WONT i be taking picture of with that sweet little camera in my pocket!
I’d take pictures of everything, but to be more precise… for the question’s sake I’d take family pictures!
Memories I wouldn’t want to some day forget or take for granted!

I have a fancier one, which I don’t know how to use (so I’ll be reading those tutorials), but I’d love to have one to keep in my purse for those occasions that happen and you so wish you had a camera right there.. like just yesterday there was a mama deer with her brand new baby trotting safely by her side. It was the smallest, cutest deer I’ve ever seen. We have a lot of deer around here, and I’ve seen babies before, but this one was the size of a small dog! So stinkin cute!!

If I would win the camera, I think it will be a dream come true for me! I have been taking photos since I was 10 years old by a cheap digital camera, from then on I considered myself as a learning-photographer, as years passed by my digicam broke and I found myself wanting to have another digicam (although my sister have a DSLR), I wanted to have a digicam since it’s lightweight and I can use it anytime & anywhere. I will take photos of everything from beautiful flowers to street lights and so on, because every photograph tells a story and when I grow up as I try to view the photos again, I can remember the memories I had when I clicked the shutter button. It’s a great feeling. And also, because my family loves traveling a lot I will take photos of every place I’ve been because pictures and memories last long. I’m keeping my fingers crossed on winning this :)

  880. I would take pictures of our horses. When taking pictures of horses, what our eye sees and what the camera sees and translates for us, is not always the same thing. When setting a horse up for a posed picture, usually the most flattering shots are from the side, or a 3 quarter view from the front. Different breeds have different ways they are traditionally presented for a picture. Arabian horses, for instance, are set up with both front legs even and the hind legs apart, with the near hind leg (the one closest to the viewer) being behind the far hind leg. The reason for this is that the Arab, having one less vertebra than other breeds and thus a shorter back, is supposed to have a flat croup. Standing them in this way accentuates the flatness of the croup (the top of the rump that leads into the tail). The Arabian horse’s tail should be held high for the picture, and the neck should be up and gracefully arched, displaying a proud and noble presence.

I enjoy photography and love taking pictures.

  881. I would definitely take pictures of my son with it! I want so badly to take pictures of him playing in the rain! And pictures for my blog too!

I would take photos of daily life! Now I have an old heavy Canon EOS 300D and I’m too lazy to carry it with me everywhere, it’s huge and I always need a big bag for it. Would be nice to have one camera that is small enough to take everywhere you go. Then if you experience something you want to get a photo of, you know you can take a picture whenever you want! Everything doesn’t need to be that planned, I think it’s more fun to take spontaneous pics :)

My son named her Moxie, a different name for sure, however, a name I hope will bring all the best to her in life, a name that will allow her the opportunity to find her way, to succeed in whatever she chooses.
I also think of the opportunity I am missing in not owning a camera to capture these precious moments!
I want to be able to capture her smiles, her frowns, silly little moments when she sucks her thumb, or reaches for her toes, or just those tender moments when I can catch the look in her eye when her mom enters the room, or the exact photo when I realize the depth of love my son has for his daughter!
