Poof! and she was gone under a pile of tissue paper pom poms…

If you Facebook with me you’ll know that every night I have been making a pom pom.  For what reason I know not.  See I told you my life is just so darn exciting, didn’t I?

The male teenage view on this  compared to the girlie Miss BC view was interesting…

Teenager “mum, errrm what on earth is going on on the deck, you are losing it”

Miss BC “mummy I lurve those balls of puff!  yum, can you make some for my room”

Me : ignoring stinky teenager “Oh darling, do I have to make more?!  Oh ok I might just be able to manage it”

Mr BC : “everywhere I go there are little bits of white tissue paper cuttings”

Me :  ”You know where the hoover is”

But I.

Do not.

About what stinky teenagers think.

Because I think I am in love with balls of puffy white delight.

And I have to tell you that when I made these, the end bit when you start fluffing is about as much fun as one can have on one’s lap in the evening…I’ll let you make your own conclusions on that…

These are just right here, I don’t know what you think about them….

I thought these might be a bit too frothy, a bit too frou-frou?

But for me, not…sometimes I feel the lure of the girlie in me…you know, like dress-up?  & these little beauties hit the mark smack bang in the middle…I like ‘em on the deck…with the bare wood and nautical stripes, kinda frivolity outside…

Anyway, I’m off to pick up Mr BC from the ferry…if you hear of a couple of men being smothered under a tonne of tissue paper pom-poms somewhere on the beaches you’ll know it was a stinky teenager and his dad.

You can find my smaller pom-poms, on the table, should you want to further add to the evidence that I am, yes, rather sad in the evenings fluffing for England, here…

Don’t forget to comment on this post to enter the Russell & Mackenna givewaway this week, open til Friday

  20. Noelle says:

  21. Michele Rice says:

I LOVE the white fluffies!!! Pom poms are all the rage now, right? LOL!!! Do you have a tutorial up yet about how you make them? Also, are you still in need of white coffee filters, and if so, did you want the white CONE type or the ones that look kinda like a bowl? Let me know by emailing me at Luvkittys F and F at Gmail dot com.

    Thanks so much!
    Michele Rice

  22. I love the white pompoms, we used to call them “last day of school flowers” as we made them from all sorts of bright colors for the last day of school celebrations. Now let’s talk trim here… my favorite photo is the one of them hanging from your patio gingerbread trim. The trim looks so lovely, even as though it has a bit of a fleur de lis pattern. Love the screen door too. Great job Sarah :)

  23. Sorry for the double post I meant to ask about the clear balls? Will you be selling those as well in your shop?

  24. Sherrie says:

Such a romantic table! The pompoms are perfect!

  25. Julienne says:

Sarah they are beautiful there is no doubt about that but…I am just a wee bit worried about the quantity you are making!!!!!
My Sweet I think it is probably time to come up with something new for those busy fingers….perhaps you could start on butterflies or maybe paper daisy chains!!!!! Tee hee xx

  26. Sarah Lynne says:

    Loooove all the white!

  27. Awwwwwww………this is fun! I think it’s really pretty!

Men and boys don’t get it. I just tell my sweetie to let me do whatever I want, and then if he hates it I’ll change it. He has NEVER told me he hates it. He just has a hard time picturing it initially.

But now with my girls gone, I’m not really getting the “oh mom I LOVE it. So PRETTY.” Now I get….”huh” from the mancub. At least my sweetie is supportive, definitely more so than the mancub.

  28. bobbie says:

OK ~ I may be the only person in the world who doesn’t know how to make these, so tutorial please!!!

  29. Tara says:

Love the pom poms Sarah, they just give that extra girlie fluff that you need sometimes to any dinner table!! xo

  30. Sharon says:

I love your pom poms and am trying to think of a place, time or party I could use them for. As always your blog is beautiful!

  31. joyce says:

Lovely! Sometimes you just have to indulge that girly part of you!

  32. Susan says:

It’s too bad Miss BC isn’t a cheerleader. The pom poms could be very useful!
You could make them for the entire squad!
Since you love making them so much!

  33. lisaroy says:

I love the pom poms! They’re great for parties too or just to decorate a little corner :)

  34. Stacey says:

Every girl needs a pom-pom or two…..or twenty! Love them!

The giveaway looks amazing! What a great company to spotlight! I love the painted desk! Could so use a little bit of that cuteness for my office!

  35. Cindy S says:

I, like Miss BC, lurve them! They look wonderful, I just wish I knew how to make them.
Please enter me in the contest and btw, I am loving the Canadian House and Home magazine that you sent me! This latest one is the
best yet! Thanks a million, my friend.
    Hugs, Cindy

  36. Anne-Marie says:

Oh Sarah I can imagine the male eye-rolling going on in the beach cottage. My men would be doing the same!
I bought a gorgeous white throw from IKEA this week to, you know, just throw on our bed so it looks gorgeous. Hub’s reaction was ‘but why’? They just don’t get it hey!!
If constructing pompoms gives you a creative outlet then I say bravo and go for it. They remind me of clouds floating above the verandah table and I think they look fabulous my dear.

  37. Anne-Marie says:

Love the pompoms.. we have these about our house after making them for a party and not being able to bear throwing them out after! boys don’t understand how pretty little bits like these can put a bounce in our step.. I don’t bother to explain any longer, I just make them and smile :)

  38. Denise says:

Sarah, I love the pompoms on the deck. They look so festive! I’m also enjoying the springtime view of your yard. We’re moving towards autumn here, and the flowers are starting to die off. I don’t like this time of year because of that. I love to see everything green and flowery and lush. Maybe I need to start making pompoms to lift my spirits. ;)

  39. Gina says:

wow how pretty do your pom poms look! i made a heap for my sister inlaws baby shower but when comparing them to martha stewerts they were a little how should i say deflated. But you have done a great job! Men just dont seem to understand the necessity of a good pompom. Mine never did!

  40. Hi there Sarah,
Love the puffy pom-poms. They are great. In your house. Here they would last one hour and be torn to shreds by the cats or the dog who loves all things paper. She would find a way to climb up to them wherever I hung them!
Anyway, please enter me in the drawing. I so need a new piece of furniture for the entry.

  41. Antiquechase says:

I keep say’n I want to make white ones but haven’t yet.. I adore yours!

  42. I LOve the pom poms! Sometimes I get on a creative rampage and just can’t stop painting things blue, or crackle painting everything in sight, etc. I fall in love with something and get “hooked”. My family doesn’t “Get” me all the time either. Sometimes my husband just has no clue about the things that can get me going but I love him anyway :)

  43. Nicola says:

Thank you Ms BC for sharing your puffy flouffy Pom Poms with us in all their frou-frou glory – I love them!

My DH is not happy that you have introducted me to Russell and Mckenna – I spent several hours last night trying to work out freight cost to Australia! I don’t surpose you know of anyone here making that sort of outstanding furniture?

    Have a great spring weekend!

  44. Due to your weird sense of humour and my own weird sense of humour, I found this post totally hillarious, from stinky teenager to lap fun in the evening. Thanks for the giggle and frothy eye candy

  45. One word…..GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46. Schmidty says:

Love them pom poms! Is there a link you can direct us to for directions?

  47. lis says:

very sweet. love em. doubt i could make them though. ;-)

  48. Debbie says:

These are so cute Sarah!!! no wonder your daughter wants them in her room!

  49. I think they are fun…froo-froo, but very fun and have great texture. You have created a dream-like room. Gorgeous!

  50. michelle says:

I just made some poms for my sons bday decor….yellow for the construction theme…but they were so fun to make and look so cool! will definately make some more in white….for me! they look fab!

  51. Alia says:

I LOVE those giant white pom poms! I want some so I can hang them all over my house. Hmm my birthday is coming up on the 20th…the perfect excuse for crazy amounts of pom pom glory!
